Dean: An old tried but true AC-powered, half-inch Makita drill with three different wired attachments. For the in close rust like around the studs, I used a steel gun cleaning brush. Finished up with some 00 steel wool and brake cleaner.

Brandon: Sorry, meant to include you in the previous response but thanks for the tip and that is exactly what I shall do this morning. With shipping costs what they are today, the response you received doesn't surprise for those little rear pads. Cheaper to just issue the refund.

Edit: A bit of a convoluted refund process Brandon but I managed to plow through it...thanks again.
