Is it worth getting a CAI without tune for 300$? i am not planning on to do any tune any time sooner. I have the ecoboost with PP so wondering if it will be an improvement over what comes in the stock as PP has got a bigger intake from stock already. I am a spirited daily driver don't intend to take car to tracks/racing

Inputs appreciated.

An intake without a tune is useless, at that point you're just spending $300 for the noise. Even with a tune a CAI shows no gains, its better off to purchase a drop-in filter for the stock air box.

Get an AEM Dry Flow or Green replacement panel filter for the stock box and call it a day. A CAI is a waste of money. Also, the intakes are the same size between the non-PP and PP cars.

What they said. Then put the money towards an intercooler. That is the one part that really needs replacing and where you can see some good solid benefits.

You can run an intake without a tune, but the stock airbox with a drop-in filter makes more power. I have proven this on multiple vehicles.

I suggest sticking with the stock airbox with a drop in filter. Never buy anything spectre ever..

What drop in filter is best recommended? I'm actually going to be pulling my full race intake and putting the stock one back on.

Why are you doing that any specific reason?

I am seeing a cai without tune would increase 10-15 hp so are you saying i will achieve more than that with a stock airbox and a drop in filter? i thought the stock airbox modular tube is restrictive and the aftermarkets ones are not

OP, did you not read this? Regardless of what companies claim to be gaining by their cold air intakes, Adam has real world testing with multiple vehicle dynos clearly proving that the stock intake with a drop in filter is the best option.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that some of the cold air intakes actually decrease horsepower.

On some cars, yes, the stock intake is very restrictive, however it is perfectly fine on the Ecoboost.

Correct. Adam has tested and proved that you gain more benefits from the OEM airbox vs. an aftermarket CAI. However I still run my mishimoto CAI for purely the sound.
