Buying wheels and MR HP: now or wait?

I'm looking to purchase a new set of wheels (MR3Z-1007-D + MR3Z-1007-E) and the Magnerade handling pack (M-9602-M) for my 2021 GT PP1 convertible. However, I'm not going to really need them until spring (when I'm going to swap the tires from currently used all-season to summer ones.)

I'm still new to the US and to buying car parts in general. So, I'm not sure whether I'd rather seek for a good deal online during Black Friday times or wait till spring. Any suggestions?

My advice would be to buy now for a few reasons:

1. Prices may continue going up.
2. Delivery delays may continue.
3. Availability may continue to be limited.

Buying during the “off season” is usually the best option.

This would be excellent advise if OP were going to be installing the parts now. But he could have issues if there is a problem 3-4 months down the road and there is no recourse with the selling dealer. Just something to consider. If the discount is big enough it might be worth the risk.

By the way OP, checkout the Ford Performance Mach 1 wheels. Same thing, but a lot cheaper.

Thanks folks. I think I'm going to order, finally.

However, I just realized there are special Mach-1 wheel moldings.

• Front (pair): VMR3Z-16268-A
• Back (left): KR3Z-6328371-AA
• Back (right): KR3Z-6328370-AA

Hence, questions.

1. Do I *need* those to fit Mach-1 HP wheels onto GT PP1 car?
2. If not need, would they do any good anyway?
3. Will they fit?

for back ones, this kit explicitly mentions fitness to GT. Which I read, if I order the full kit, it will fit my GT PP1 no question.

but for the front ones, it says "Will fit other Non-Mach models, but modifications are required." What exactly does it mean?

The front ones are not required but recommended to help reduce road rash from the aggressive offset these wheels have, See below

The rear ones you have listed are specific to the GT500 but I cannot confirm either if they are the same ones used on the Mach 1 models. The issue with those is I dont believe they will mate up to the GT rear valance well and may require some modifications. The area of concern is shown below

I have read about possible interference with the Mach 1 HP wheels on GTs.

Is that due to actual interference with the rear valance? Or are you pointing out the added GT350 type flap that protects from road rash due to the wider tires?

Are there any other issues using them on the GT?

We have sold many set with no reported issues in regards to the wheel fitment but I have not searched the forums here. The guards simply reduce the amount of small rocks the tires can pick up hence reducing the chips they can cause.

The rear guards used on gt500's and gt350's mate up to the rear valance. This is where I believe an issue would be. On the 2015-2017's we sold the GT350 rear guards and only a slight modification was required, Overall they looked great when installed. We do not know what these would look like yet.

Bonus question is whether I'd need any additional hardware to mount them.

This is less of concern to me, since your GT500 rear kit specifically mentions it will fit a GT. So I'm planning to buy the entire kit just to be on a safe side. (Even though it might be an overkill.)

Nobody knows for certain but the Mach1 front wheel lips may require the inner wheel well plastics. I bought a pair so have them already but haven't bought the actual lips.

For rock guards most people get ZL1addons or RokBlox which are far more useful than the itty-bitty ones Ford uses.

I have those guards pictured on my 2019. Those are MP designs.

There is a small gap as seen. But I do think will serve their purpose. I hope.

The screws are behind the fender liner. The same bolts that attach that section to the rear valance. The fender liner covers them up once installed.

I believe a few new holes need to be drilled into the fender liner for all fasteners to be installed. This is a very minor modification but should be expected.

If you buy the complete kit then the wheel arches will not be a concern as they will mate up properly.
