My 2020 Mustang smells burnt rubber when I drive on wet roads in cold weather or roads covered with snow. It will actually smell stronger when the road is snowy.
Lately I had to start it remotely to warm it up because it spent the night outside and it is winter and the smell was very strong when I got in the car. I drove on a snowy road the day before.
When I took it to the dealer it was a day when the road was dry...obviously.
I explain the warming up event and they looked at me like I was from another planet.
Cannot be the tires or brakes. The car wasn't moving.
Any idea?
Thanks

I had this problem with my Lexus. It was a plastic bag that went under the car and melted to the exhaust. It eventually burned away.

It doesn't sound like it's the same for you as you said it doesn't do it on dry roads.

Serpentine belt getting wet & slipping getting hot? Just a guess.

Sounds like traction control engaging the brakes to limit wheelspin. It’s pretty common, especially for high powered cars, and probably nothing to worry about.

The car wasn't even moving, so that's not it.

OP, probably some plastic somewhere like Brett said, or maybe try to take a look at your belts.

A/C belt? Rain, snow, and warm up are times when the defroster is probably running.

Salt and road de icers heating up on warm parts. Like you stated, it smells in the AM after warming up car and not even driving it yet. That rules out a lot .
Those of us in the snow belt experience this.

Can you smell it on outside and inside after a remote start? Is it stronger toward the front or back? Only with heated seats on? Or rear window defroster on? Windows tinted? Can you smell it coming through the vents? Anything else recently done to the car before you started noticing this? These are questions I would ask if I had to diagnose it as they could help isolate an area to start looking for a problem.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Event slowing down when the car is idling LOL.
Salt is not the issue. It does smell when it is a rainy day. It will smell stronger on snowy day though. I smell it inside when I have the heater/AC on. I think I might be on the right path here.
I will smell it outside too but not on remote start in winter. Remote start will smell inside as soon as I open the door because the heater is blasting. And again, stronger if I was on a snowy road the day before.
The first winter I didn't have to warm it up because it was in an underground parking.
This winter I have to leave it outside overnight quite often and that's when I noticed the smell while warming up.
