I found 2 dealers not far that will do MSRP. I've looked and seems that maybe 3 totally Bullitts have had a ticking reported? 1 car each US/UK/AUS? I'm trying to get my head over it. I'm the type of person that 1) over researches and 2) over worries. I'm trying to put my mind at ease by finding out just how many Bullitts have had an issue. So far is seems like a VERY tiny number.

So.. I should just stop worrying and buy one right?

Coming from a guy who has a ticking time-bomb, uh, Bullitt, I say chance it.

But I also have the 2k rattle and I'm OK with it until there's a cause/repair.

As long as you leave it stock you don't really have anything to worry about. If by some small chance the motor is bad, it'll likely go early in life and be replaced under warranty. Many have had the tick for years and are over 100k miles and still running strong with their early 5.0s. And then there's a large majority that have no tick at all. It really just comes down to how bad you want the car. That will decide if it's worth the risk for you. Everyone has different risk tolerances but I say go for it. Everyone here clearly loves theirs.

What would you buy instead that would allay your fears?

Let me tell you what can happen with a car.

Moy 2006 VW Jetta 2.0T FSI engine with DSG. These are the main items that failed/had to be replaced, some under warranty, some not.

1.Engine Rings (Warranty)
2.Cam follower and intake camshaft (Warranty)
3. High pressure Fuel pump (Warranty
4. Water pump (my pocket)
5 Gear shifter mechanism (My pocket)
6. Mechatronics unit (my pocket)

It also has an evap leak, which I have lived with for quite a while, may eventually get it fixed.

I still own the car. 13 years and 196,000km. Love driving the car. The body is in great shape (looks new),along with the interior.

Don't sweat what might or might not happen. Get the car you want and enjoy it...…...
