That's fair, but that notion seems to have gone out the window when you started changing things and going all out. The OEM heads ain't broke but you're fixing them, the bottom end ain't broke but you're fixing it etc. etc.

Again it just seems odd to skimp out on one of the most important aspects of a high revving N/A build such as cams when you're already going all out on everything else.

Well, i found part of a ring in my valves, so the bottom end was broken, and the heads were damaged so... This happened at Road America. I can post some pics of the damage. But i understand your point, it makes perfect sense to me. And i didnt feel like i was "skimping out" as the cams in these cars are great. I've been told that by multiple people. I didnt intend on chasing RPM, I was just told that the build could handle it. Doesnt mean it had to be there. The entire valve train minus the cams are new. But after this discussion I see no reason to not upgrade them. I trust the minds of the strangers online - especially kevin

We have all seen the ups and downs of Kevin's engine builds. It seems at the end of the day, the FPC wound up being problematic. The engine literally shakes itself apart. I have never had issue with any of my Rs on the track, but I was not basing a dedicated race car around the engine. I recall the GT350RC was a very short lived endeavor for the very reasons that Kevin has discovered. Mean time between overhaul was of a shorter duration and reliability was an issue.

I can't say with absolute certainty, but the CPC seems to be a much more stable and solid approach to an engine under racing conditions. I understand why Kevin has gone that direction.

I notice in my GT500 that the engine seems to so much more solid. It doesn't use a drop of oil and the oil analysis are all spot on. Most of the miles on my GT500 are track. I couldn't ask for a better wearing engine based upon oil analysis, time after time.

As for your build? It looks impressive. My Rs will always be FPC because that is what makes the car so very special. I know Nick Smither has a ground up built GT350R, but I don't know if he has converted to a CPC like Kevin.

Yeah I’ve talked to Kevin throughout, the secret isn’t in the parts or build, the secret is to keep your expectations low lol. This car sees 4 track days a year and a few thousand street miles. I have no doubt the CPC is the superior build for reliability. But I love FPC like a child. But the relationship is that of a red headed step child. I’llbe sure to keep the thread updated.

I come from a racing background so I’ve always been aware of damage. Every part is a wear part. Some just wear faster. All part of the game.
