Broke drill bit off in block for oil pump

Hey so I need guidance on my 2015 Mustang gt I stripped the threads on the block where one of the bolts that hold the oil pump to the block go and threads were to far gone to chase so a couple people recommended I heli coil it while doing so the end of the drill bit snapped off in the block and it’s pretty deep in there just looking for any possible recommendations to get that bit out also looking for someone who has a higher skill set then me in this position that would be willing to fix my issue I’ll pay obviously Tacoma Washington area

That is a tough one. I have used a tapered punch to lightly tap the fluted portion alternately on transmissions years ago but there was room to work it back and forth.
Then used skinny needle nose pliers to wiggle it out. Being that deep and is not going to be fun. Whatever the solution is will be an eye opener for sure. Following this one for sure. Fingers. Rossed for you.

When you’re referring to the “drill bit” that broke; are you referring to the threaded bit used to chase/clean/helicoil the damaged area or an actual drill bit?

Just want to be clear on the bit part because there is a difference between the 2 and those helping need images and or better clarity to assist.

If it’s the actual helicoil bit that broke, what member coyoteracing recommended above may work to grab it and back it out.

Definitely need to take and post images.

If your doing this with engine in, I have on other cars drilled a new hole beside old hole (carefully drill and tap using a bit stop to prevent going through block lip material), retap new hole 6m x 1.0 seal/plug other hole, install new bolt and call it a day.

The big issue is that it’s an aluminum block, aluminum tends to be more “gummy” and easily can stick to the drill bit. This results in bad chip extraction which in turn results in more heat… with this combination, when a drill or tap breaks you often find that the chips have adhered themselves to the bore of the hole, which seems to lock the broken piece in place making it a PITA to remove when the drill is broken off below the surface of the hole. At this point you need to see if you can reach the broken piece with some forceps or needle nose pliers etc. do not try to pull it straight out gently twist it and hopefully you can get it to release from the hole.

It’s the actual drill bit that Brooke I’ll update with some pics when I get home this afternoon

Google is your friend sometimes you could try "broken drill bit extractor" but if it's broken that far down it may twist the extracters other option would be EDM thats not cheap but cheaper then new block

If I had a broke tap/drill bit I would buy a high grade Diomond tip bit and use a high speed dremel to carefully bore out. Diamond tip is a last resort for me if or when this occurs. Good luck

What size hole or drill bit and how far down this hole is the broken bit? Is it possible to leave the bit in there, drill out the hole and flange on the pump to a larger size, tap it and use a larger fastener?

if aluminum block try light heat maybe a heat lamp just to try to expand it a little just don't over heat. aluminum expands quicker then steel, if aluminum block make sure to use a no-lox on steel bolt threads as steel and aluminum don't get along together very well.
