…the heat is starting to get to them I guess. Has anyone found a clear coat that will stand up, or should I just put the car down for awhile and powdercoat them?

Is that the factory finish? Or did you paint them?

OEM calipers are painted not clear coated. Brembo paints the standard anodized black caliper after assembly. This is why the factory dust boots will have paint on them.

Brembo, as well as us, strongly discourage powder coating. Powder coaters typically do not mask the caliper properly so constant issues during reassembly always present themselves. The baking process for powder coat is also around 400F. While it is durable it is also hard and if you have to remove powder coat that ends up around the dust boot surfaces it needs to be chipped off. The tolerance for the friction fit of the dust boot is tight.

If you are concerned with what looks like a chemical stain on the finish, I would urge you just clean the caliper throughly and re-spray it with a quality caliper paint fully assembled.

We have a ton of Customers that have successfully powder coated them but also a ton of nightmares of ruined calipers. These calipers are still available new from Ford for around $300.

Show car vs. Driven hard car also is something to consider.

This is just our opinion based on previous experiences.

Edit: I will add that the internal surfaces that the pad edges are locating against and do contact when the pads move in and out are a tolerance. This needs to remain bare. Powder coat is typically fairly thick compared to paint so that area needs attention. This goes along with the locating pin bores and the fixed bridge where the spring clip attaches to.

I rebuilt and powder coated mine two years ago and they're still shiny. At the time I didn't know that clear powder coat existed. If I had I'd have had them cleared on top of the yellow powder coat.
