After 2 trips to the drag strip that were total failures to reliably set the line locks, I want to put on old school solenoids at each front wheel. As long as you turn off traction control before using the manual locks, then turning it back on after burnout, does anyone know of any reason they would not work when in Drag Mode?
Will the computer pitch a fit when the drivetrain is turning and the front wheels aren't?

I’ve not done it in my own car but from what I’ve read you need to stand on the brake to get it to line lock.

That's right, you have push harder than I have ever pushed on a brake pedal.
Now I know how they found out the pedal brackets were breaking on the early 2020 500s.
You end up sitting in the burnout area, jacking on the pedal to get it to engage
and everyone is wondering what the hell is wrong with that dumb ass driver.

I KNOW HOW, but if you've never done it, under pressure at the track, you may not get what
I'm saying. A single toggle switch operation is a lot easier and works every time.

I had same issues the first few times down the track too. Now, I choose the Line Lock function and turn off T/C while waiting in the staging lanes then once you pull down into the burnout box, it's hold ok, hold brake, hit ok and it's locked. Has made it much smoother for me. Don't let off the brake until after you hit ok the 2nd time. The pedal will vibrate and you may hear it engage.

If you do it properly, it will work. No need to mod the car.

This one is GT500 specific as the buttons and menus are different than the above video:

Used it all the time in the 2020. There is a learning curve. Find an empty parking lot with no cops around and practice. Remember to smash that brake pedal like you are trying to push it through the firewall.

Yes, our computers pitch a fit on a dynamometer for that exact reason, if you forget to unplug…
…whatever it was.

I see the animation of the pedals appears to show a clutch pedal,
but doesn’t show what to do with it.
Yesterday while trying to use the line lock, I was in 1st gear with my foot on the clutch as I went through the procedures.

It went wrong the same way every time, so I started taking pictures

I got to the timer, where it gives you 15 seconds and says “Press OK to begin” and I can press OK as well as the next guy…

And I got this error message every time

We’re sure manual cars have this feature, right?
So, what could be the problem?

EDIT: I wonder if I'm making the same user error as this guy...
Was user error. I sat on side 'til I figured it out...

1) Hold OK to start line lock
2) Push hard on brake
3) Keep holding brake then click ok
4) Do burn out...

After step two I was letting go of brake then clicking ok.
I'll have to try again.
The manual could really be more explicit. Neither the manual, nor the video above, nor the prompts on the screen talk about when to let go of the clutch pedal or whether to let go of the brake.

I think this is what I needed:
Key part is after the "step on brake" step KEEP your foot on the brake while the OK screen comes up and press OK,
DO NOT move your foot between the two steps,
only remove your foot from the brake after you hit OK and hear the line lock engage.

Yes, you need to stand on it like when Mom’s busted old Plymouth stalls in motion, you lose the vacuum assist, and you’re trying to stop before you run out of parking lot.
