Anyone hear the S-type vs Atak in person? I've listened to every video I can find comparing the two, I'm mainly wondering how much louder the Atak actually is. From the videos it sounds a little less deep and noticeably more menacing but it's so hard to tell how much louder it is.

Agreed, the videos suck. Not only because you can't get an accurate representation of the amount of bass but also the volume is compressed SO much.
The best representation I've found is an 11 minute video that Borla made specifically for the s550 comparing stock to touring to s type to ATAK in multiple situations with good dual microphone setups.
On that note I just ordered an Stype catback from Hypermotive over the weekend. Not only have I gotten quick good answers to questions from David Borla on this forum but Hypermotive has some of the best customer service I've ever experienced and hooked me up with a good deal.
They really went out of their way to answer any and all questions for me.
On the differences between the two my wife actually likes the ATAK a little better but our Stang is a DD and I want to put long tube headers on it and with it being convertible I thought the ATAK would be almost unbearable.
I've heard the ATAK compared volume wise to the Roush stuff and I've got a friend with an h pipe and Roush axle backs and it is LOUD for just catback stuff. But it is controllable if you aren't romping on it.
Hope this rambling helps in some way lol!

Thanks for the feedback. I've had both the Corsa sports and the extreme. I have the s-types on it now, I like how much lower pitched they are compared to the extreme. Actually I'm preferring the s-types more than either Corsa system, just wish they were a little louder. So now I've got to decide, keep the s-types on, or reinstall the extremes... or buy and try out the Ataks lol.

Have you thought about running headers with it? That would really perk it up and should help that blower make more power with less boost if you wanted. You can get a good set of long tubes for what another catback would cost you.

I have to throw in there that I agree with you too on sound. Corsa is a very close second for me but I love that deep idle with the very throaty on throttle sound!

No headers planned for this car, our county has tough emissions tests. Plus the car has a blower so I have enough power lol.

Thanks for this thread, I was listening in to videos for the difference on the exhaust systems.

I'm looking for one that is deep bass in sound, and not a screamer like the borla atak. The S type sounded like the ones I want.

Me and my fiance are old people, we prefer to hear burbles than sharp raspy pitch when we put our foot down.

Hopefully OP doesn't mind me asking this in his thread but I didn't wanna start a new thread about a similar comparison. How does the ATAK compare to the Ford Racing Sport catback?

No problem with me! And I've heard the FRPP sport cb in person, the s-types are noticeably louder, I'd imagine the Atak would be much louder and raspier. But that's what I'm trying to understand, how much louder the Atak is vs the s-type.

Ok thanks. Hopefully you get the answer you need.

Well, this isn't exactly an answer to your question but it might be close. I have a '15 F150 with the 5.0L and put an ATAK on it, it is *very* loud. Now I've heard the S-type on a 16 5.0l f150 and it is significantly quieter. That isn't a bad thing, it still sounds great. I actually really like my ATAK but I had my exhaust guy put a resonator on it because it was, frankly, out of control. Like I said, I loved it, but my neighbors, wife, the guys in the next county...well, not so much at 4:30am cold start!

In terms of timber, the ATAK is a lot more mechanical sounding, like a chainsaw - it clanks at high RPMS, the Stype was just a nice deep rumble. I have no db numbers, but on a scale of 1-10 10 being a straight piped lambo, and stock GT being about a 4, the stype is a 6-7 and the ATAK is a 9 IMHO.

I know another video doesnt help, but this is with the atak no resonator. https://www.instagram.com/p/7BoXe6KWU9 Like I said...loud. :D
