I've basically, although no happy about it, accepted that although I was promised by my dealer prior to purchase it would get apple carplay that we very likely won't.
Perfectly said. I got the 2.5, although I do plan on eventually installing a whipple it's a few years away so figured no reason to go with the 3 until then.
I haven't had any issues with any non-apple apps since updating to iOS 10.
Carplay is nice in iOS 10, you can rearrange the icons on the car radio screen now.
One of the members of the club I'm in is out in Las Vegas at the Ford Developer Conference. He specifically asked about carplay and android auto for 2016s. Here is what he was told:
