Currently running Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s, which are great tires. Looking for opinions on brand and size for a tire I could swap out when going to Mexico for some rolls. Would get new wheels for an easy swap.

My thoughts -

Hoosier R7’s on 18” wheels

Mickey ET street R’s on 18” wheels

I assume the 18” would be fine on a PP car?

Not much experience with other combo’s so looking for expert opinions!

Car is a Roush set up with 740whp and it’s a manual.

If you're going to get new wheels, might as well get 17's and a taller sidewall to help you hook.

So like a 305/45/17?

No problem clearing PP brakes?

It depends on you what you want but MT ET Street R 305/45/17 hook great. If you want a bit less agressive go with MT ET Street SS. The NITTO NT05 R hooks decent and has good life expectancy.

The American Muscle Performance pack copy in 19x10” with 305/35/19 Nt05r’s would hook your power level just fine from 2nd gear and up roll. 17” setup would be for track, dig or 1000+whp cars

If I went with 305/40/19, do you think I would have rubbing issues?

Car is lowered on Ford Racing springs.

Want the tallest tire I can fit for the Texas Mile.

They don’t make that size in nt05r and I’m not sure if it would rub, but I’m lowered on Steedas and the 305/35/19 fits perfect without any issues.

Have the AM PP replicas 19x10. Had Nittos NT05Rs and could hook in 2nd if everything was warm ...went to MTs S/S and is the best hooking street tire I have ever ran.

2nd would hook on boost? My buddy had them with a whipple and a stick and it roasted them through third.

Air pressure is key from what I’ve read...17-20lbs which also improves wear and tracking. Proper suspension, weather, power level, wear, are other factors. I have a brand new set that will be going on next month. I’ll report back then.

Yeah, hard to believe anything would hook in 2nd. My MPSS 4’s will spin in 3rd even when warmed up good. But honesty, I’ve never ran a good drag tire, so that’s why I’m asking.

I’m really trying to find the best option for some rolls and then have them for the Texas Mile next year. I’m at 26.5” diameter right now and need more height.

Yes....might be a bit different with a centrifugal. If i got the tires hot and the roads were warm I could get 2nd to hold with them.
