2017 GT PP. Further to wheel hop, I've only installed the CB005 and the wheel hop is still very bad when ever the wheels break loose. I've also only installed the Ford Performance Power Pack 2 CAI, so not pushing lots of HP/TQ. Love the car just really disappointed in how bad it bucks when jumping on the throttle.
My experience with CB005 on both my 2016 and 2018 is that it does very little to control wheel hop unless you have the right tires. With the kit and vertical links, both of my Mustangs had violent hop until I installed some MT drag radials. That was the cure. Not saying the CB005 does nothing....just saying the right tires are probably more important. Maybe the kit combined with the right tires is better than tires alone but I am not sure about that.

And I think you'd get @BMR Tech to agree with that completely. Tires is always first. Street tires tend to hop badly.

Yep....he has been consistent about that. Some street tires seem to be better than others, though. The guys with 2018s with PP and Michelins seem to do pretty well. My Pirellis hopped like pogo sticks....especially on the 1-2 shift.

I just installed this kit along with the steeda alignment stuff and my wheel hop is almost gone. Now From a roll in 1st gear i stab it and the car gets sideways, only small amount of wheel hop now is on the 1-2 shift not like before where it would wheel hop as soon as it lost traction. Waiting on some vertical links to hopefully take away the last bit of hop on the car! Also the car rides much better in handling. A tad bit stiffer but nothing to crazy. Another thing ive never been a fan of the pirelli tires but only have 3k on them so ill spend the money elsewhere until they wear some more.

I should clarify that for spirited street driving or punching it from a roll I thought that the CB005 was effective. It was at the dragstrip on a prepped surface that the hop was earth-shaking violent.

What tires? Is traction control on?
Tires are the factory Pirelli P-zeros 275-40-19. Traction control on or off doesn't seem to have any impact on the hop. Even with the Advanced Trac off, still no difference ... vicious hop.

The Pirelli's on the rear are now completely worn out at 11,500km (7,150 mi). Fronts still like new LOL. So I'm currently looking to replace the rears. Now with rears basically worn out the car breaks loose quicker and still hops like a rabbit.

Sounds like several are suggesting that new tires will help with the hop. I'd was toying with going with 285-40-19 (slightly wider/taller) but am very open to any recommendations further to wheel type and size I should get or the link to a good tire thread. Note, I don't track or drag the car. I daily drive it in the summer only, but do like to push it when the opportunity presents itself ;}

I’d buy a better summer tire, maybe the Firehawk Indy 500?

Stick with 275/40R19 but get something like the Indy 500 or Conti ECS or Michelin PSS/PS4S.

Thx Poncho and BmacIL

Why do you recommend I not change the tire size slightly? I was aiming for a little more ground contact and improved looks.

The amount to the ground change will be quite small as the tire won't be supported by the wheel as well, being the minimum rim width. If you do springs ever you just made it worse for clearance.

You really don't get a much bigger-looking tire by going up only one size. In the 285/40 vs 275/40 case (both on 9.5" wide wheels), it's about 3/16" on section width (less than 1/8" per sidewall) and only about 5/16" on outside diameter. Hardly anybody will ever notice without reading the sidewall or you telling them.

Sometimes a couple of reasonably-close sketches helps.

On 10" wide wheels, 285/40's might start being enough wider-looking than 275/40's on 9.5's to notice. Maybe.

Thank you Norm for this detailed information and sketches. With this info it appears that it's definitely not worth the few extra dollars to up size.
Cheers,
Brad

Norm is the most informed & educated poster on several forum, I rely on R&D but also use others experience as an added tool for knowledge. I get no hop with 255/45/18 Firehawk's on the rear w/ CB005 & Steeda subframe bushings. I lowered my pony as well.

Did BMR come out with their alignment bushings or do I still need to order the Steeda 555-4447?
