It's pretty common for the friction material to fall off and cause those symptoms. Plenty of threads about it. I'm willing to bet that's what it is.

Just save yourself the trouble and upgrade now and not worry about it again

Tow truck juat took it away. Depending on what happens, i may end up doing a upgrade. Especially if they wont cover the fix. If im gunna pay for it, might as well do a spec clutch and flywheel

dealership give you an estimate of how long it will take them to take apart the transmission and give you a diagnosis?

I just talked to them. Car showed up safe. Said they might not be able to look at it till next friday.....

More i think about it, the more i think that dumb ass dual mass flywheel broke, aside from the noise of something freewheeling after ahutting off the motor, it also reved up way easier....which would make since if the back half of the flywheel wasnt beeing spun

they give you a rental? Waiting a week for a teardown and diagnosis is a long time. And then they will have to order parts after that. :faint:

Luckily im on a work trip next week so ill have a company suplied rental. After that i can borrow my dads trusty ol 94gt if i need to. He said if theres any cancelations they will be able to get to my car sooner. The service guy sounded pretty cool, and i was very nice to him lol
This really sucks, but its life. First time in 17 years a ford has left me hanging....so i cant complain too much...wasnt expecting it from a brand new car...but what can you do you know.

V6 and GT have the same clutch, right? It is supposed to handle well over 400 HP.
I'm not sure. It looks like the V6 clutch pedal assist spring is different (lighter force) than the GTs ... if so, that might mean the clutch is different in the V6.

OP ... maybe you could get verification from the dealership shop if the V6 and GT clutch & pressure plate are the same part numbers.

I put everything back but my custom cat back and bbk headers. As mentioned i put the tune back to stock, ive heard from differnt sources that it will void my waranty, and others say it wont. Probably depends on the dealer, and what the problem was. Honestly, if its the flywheel, im not sure how they can argue it was the tune. They could however pull the abuse card.

Its its not getting fixed under waranty, ill have them stick a regular lightweight flywheel in it, and a spec stage1 clutch. Hopefully its xovered, even though i dont want a piece of shit dual mass flywheel going back in. I had to research it myself. I didnt know about them till today. Its pretty much a 2 piece flywheel, with springs and stuff to obsorb shock and vibration....unfortunately, that means its not that great for a performance car. Qhy they would use one on a mustang im not sure. A buddy of mine with a svt focus said his car also has one
