when I get to the point of ordering a 2018 (one of these days) I will likely NOT get BLIS. We have it on my wife's 2017 explorer sport and at times I really like it, but other times when it beeps it startles the hell out of me for no reason. When Im blind backing out of a space with tahoes on each side and cant see anything, its nice. Other than that single instance, it annoys me. I dont park where people are all against me like that very often, so for me, its just not worth the investment, or it scaring the crap out of me.
My 16 does not have an audible alert, atleast it isn't set up that way.

I see you have 401a.... if you want your mirrors to dip downwards when backing then set one of your driver memory's to your existing setting but just change the mirror setting. That way, when backing, hit the memory button and you can see where backing. Works for me anyway.... along with using the camera and sensors....
this is a great (ghetto) solution. I'll definitely be doing this but really should e even have to? FORD??? IM TALKING TO YOU!!!!

It helps when I pass someone by letting me know when I can change lanes safely since the mirror is not a 1 to 1 scale. Cross traffic alert is just icing on the cake.

Beeping sound is at very low or no speed. Mine beeps when I back out slowly or waiting to back out. At highway speeds it's just the indication in the mirror.

And "no" I am not confusing BLIS with backup sensors.

The beeping when backing up is the cross traffic alert letting you know that something is moving towards you while backing up.

And it's job is to get your attention....which the beeping does quite well.

Trust me. Ford knows because they watch what other car makers do. Others, like Cadillac have been doing this for quite some time. Put the car into reverse and the the mirrors dip to see curbs then go back to normal when taken out of reverse or after some time passes.

A very minor downside of using a spare memory to lower the mirrors is that the memory will also change the seat position, so make sure the lower mirror memory doesn't move the seat back so far a short driver's feet no longer reach the pedals. LoL

Since you have to put the car in park to use the memory options I've found it's easier to just tag the down button on the mirror control and park. Then when I touch the door to unlock the car, once I come back, mirrors (and seats) move back to my position. (You can link a key to a memory position and if the car is unlocked with that key, it acts as if you'd pressed that memory button.)

Have it...very useful feature. More so around parking lots when backing up. Picks up other cars and people. Does come in handy on the freeway but not as much.

Included with the BLIS system is rear cross traffic alert. As much as I try to park way out away from other cars, sometimes it's just not possible. And inevitably I'll be between 2 huge SUVs. All I have to do is get the bumper to clear the SUVs' bumpers and the alert will tell me if someone is coming down the aisle. This makes it invaluable to me. And it does something for me that I physically cannot do, so it's not one of those lazy driver gadgets. (That said, I also have adaptive cruise and love it!)
Exactly this. I had certain things I wanted when I bought my Mustang. BLIS was NOT one of those things, but the only car that had everything else I wanted came with it. I had test drove other Mustangs but got mine through a dealer trade and never actually drove the car until I had finished all the paperwork and waited for it to come out of the detail shop. They parked it between two huge trucks when it was ready. I go out, start it up, put it in reverse, can't see a damn thing on either side of me beside of the two huge trucks and start to creep out and hear the beep of the rear traffic alert. Some dude goes flying behind me. Had I not had this little seemingly useless option, I would have had a wrecked Mustang after driving for the very first time all of 3 feet in reverse. Get it. You still have to drive like you were taught, obviously, but this could save you from heartache and some money one day. Maybe much sooner than you would think!!

I did a little experiment this weekend. I adjusted my mirrors per post #14 and then took a 1.5 hour road trip. I noticed that even with the mirror adjusted out to where you can't see the car there's still a blind spot. Interestingly enough as soon as the car entered the blind spot the light on the mirror came on. I'll probably re-adjust the mirrors so that I just see the edge of my car and let BLIS do its thing.
