I’m looking for a set of quality 19mm lug nuts. I have Project 6GR rims and they were kind enough to give me a set of black lug nuts when I bought the wheels. However, I take my rims on and off a lot, even being careful the paint is coming off the lugs. I would like a quality set like the Ford Performance ones, but they don’t fit my rims. Anyone purchase a set or should I get a set powder coated maybe…?

How does the finish hold up with impact?
Pretty well. I use a breaker to start taking them off and hand finish with a torque wrench and only use a driver to spin them off and on to semi tight, so IDK but I don’t think you’ll find a tougher lug nut finish which isn’t bare metal.

They state these don't fit factory wheels. Anyone know if this is true and if so, why do they not fit factory wheels.

Stock needs wider lug nuts, they’re a 21mm head. Many aftermarket rims use 19mm. Gorilla makes 21mm that fit stock

Ok so the 60 degree seat is wider on the factory wheel lug nuts than aftermarket wheels. That really does not make much sense because the lug thread is still 14x1.5 in terms of strength of the lug nuts and aftermarket wheels. So if the socket head is 19mm the 60 degree seat would still be just the same distance from the threads going outwards but have a thinner contact area on the wheel plus the less thickness between the thread and a 19mm head equals a weaker lug nut IMO.

I will stick with 21mm head lug nuts and a wider seat surface for mire contact with wheel interface and a much stronger lug nut due to more material between threads and socket head of lug nut.

Only reason to use 19mm is if you can’t fit 21mm.

FWIW the contact area isn’t as different as it sounds. The seat on the 21mm may be bigger than the mating surface on the wheel. Check the wear on these 21 and 19mm lugs

Yep, agree on wear surface contact patch between the two and also if not enough room for 21mm lugs in wheel pocket on aftermarket wheels which is why I prefer the 21mm lugs. I have 19" premium wheels so happy with wheel but think black lugs would complement the silver wheels on my car.
