Thanks Roadway5.0, i appreciate your prompt reply. I think you have confirmed what i already knew but i wasn't sure about the effect in an S550. I will discuss with the fitter what springs are available ( he seems to think Kings , a local manufacturer and a 1" drop would be ideal) but i am thinking just leave the stock ones in it and enjoy the Bilstein comfort and control.
Stock springs and Bilsteins is a solid win. If you do venture into lowering springs, just be mindful of the spring rates—no need to go super stiff unless you need/want it.

This ^^^

I ran a mostly similar arrangement on a previous car (not a Mustang, but still a strut/IRS car with powered rear wheels). Damping control after 70,000 miles was better than the (under-damped) OE was at 1000. "Mostly similar" means that the damping curves might have been a little firmer than off-the-shelf Bilstein curves.

The watchword here should be 'moderation' . . . at least as much in the amount of lowering as in the spring rates, as lower ride heights imply greater spring stiffness is needed to cover for the reduction in suspension bump travel. From comparable experience, GT350-ish spring rates aren't all that bad.

Many retailers have them now. B6s are listed as “HD” on some websites. Here are the part numbers:

Struts: 35-253600 https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/tel:35-253600
Shocks: 24-253611

No bump-stops are needed for the struts (they are internal). The rears can use OEM stops, but are a tight fit. I used a set of BMW M3 stops which were significantly less expensive and fit perfectly:
