When I ordered my Bilstein shocks I noticed that no new bump stops or dust covers came in the package. I took a look at inexpensive Ford parts dealers, and the total cost for OEM stops and covers was $82 plus roughly $14 for shipping. $96? Not going to happen.
As I had a E92 BMW in the past, I recalled the bump stop kit was “about” the right size to fit my Mustang’s new Bilsteins. So I went on a whim and ordered two E92 BMW M3 bump-stop kits for a total of $41.75 shipped to my door.
I got mine here:

The $41.75 gamble paid off; these bump stop kits fit perfectly. The stops needed zero modification. They slide on the shock with just enough resistance to know the fit was right. The dust cover has plenty of clearance over the shock casing, and not too much either.
The bump stop height is just over 2.75 inches, with about .75 inches of it being non-active—you can compress this with nearly no effort as this section is completely hallow and only holds the dust cover on. With 2 inches of active bump stop, this makes for a perfect, cheap, and functional unit for my lowered S550. And yes, if you absolutely wanted to trim these, you can trim the non-active .75 inches off and still retain the dust cover.
Anyway, photos are worth a thousand words, so here you have it:
I’ll be bolting these up next weekend and will report how the stout Bilsteins handle....hopefully as good as they look!
