Hey guys I am considering upgrading my 5.0L GT C/S radiator to either a perfomance pack radiator or a Mishimoto. What would you guys say is best for a whippled car that would occasionally be tracked?

Your factory radiator is more than capable...I would not waste money on a replacement. Lots of the stuff out there is Chinese junk.

Fluidyne and Mishimoto make an awesome radiator. We sell them here at @LethalPerformance! Give me a shout if you have anymore questions or would like to place an order!

I have a mishimoto and it is awesome. I went from a base gt radiator to the mishimoto because my whipple needed the extra cooling.

Capable for what? Driving to the grocery store to buy cupcakes or for 3 hours on track with a boosted car?

Capable of provide adequate cooling for a Whipple supercharged car GT/CS that will be occasionally tracked. The Supercharger kits that are sold for our cars require no additional parts to perform as designed.

Pretty sure that "as designed" doesn't mean 20-30 minute sessions on track going WOT the entire time. Good luck keeping a supercharged car cool with the base radiator and a huge intercooler sitting in front of it when tracking.

My stock car revving to 7200 gets in the 240s CHTs and I have a PP radiator. His car will limp out in less than 3 laps. If that's considered "occasionally tracked" and everything else is just street driving, I agree the base radiator will be fine. If he actually wants to make it the full session then not even close to being enough. There are guys that have done everything possible to cool the car (radiator, dedicated oil cooler, open grill, vented hood) and still have overheating issues on track with an FI car.

Now if tracking means just the quarter mile, he will be fine but will loose alot of power and not be as efficient.

He will be fine- his rear diff temps will get him off track before his engine temps-use a bottle of purple ice in the fluid- OEM radiator is very capable.

The PP radiator yes, the base one no. It's barely capable for a stock car. And the diff will be fine for what he does.

OP, your best bet is to go over to the road racing forum and ask other FI guys and what they have done and their experience on track with such a setup.

What is different about the aftermarket radiators than that of the OEM unit? More cores? Double pass? Larger OA size? Different entrance and exit air ducting?

If you don't change some physical attribute then a one heat exchanger is the same as another no matter whose name is on it.

It is much thicker in size and holds more volume of coolant. The PP radiator is about 50% larger than the base, and these are about 50% larger than that.
