Looking for feedback form members who have used scanners to troubleshoot diagnose clear and reset codes.

Plenty online and they all claim to be the best but before I pull the trpigged on one I would appreciate some suggestions on which to go with.

Thanks

+1 to what both of the posts say above. I have the OBDLink MX as well.

Bluetooth is desirable so you can use a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

Good topic, here’s another question about the aftermarket OBD scanners for newer vehicles:

Will these also decipher other such stored codes, such as ABS fault codes?

I think the ngauge would make a great scanner. Even without a tune you can still do gauges, run log files and mount it permanently in the dash.

All I want to do is have the freaking double horn honk disabled. Can I just go to my Ford Dealership and tell them to do it for less than buying a scanner?

Buy a $15 cable, and do that, plus a lot of other FORScan changes, yourself :D. And no, I don't think a dealer would do that. And even if they did, they'd charge you way more than that cable. Or just find somebody local with FORScan to do it for you, over coffee or something.

What double horn honk? the one when you lock the doors? if so that can be turned off in the cars menu from the steering wheel. The one that honks if you walk away with it running and you have the key I think can be turned off from there as well.

Press settings button on steering wheel go to advanced> vehicle > Locks > feedback. and turn off and on horn or lights or both.
I am talking about the one where you leave the vehicle with keys in pocket w car running and shut the door. Not seeing a Feedback option, nothing on horn. Lights are in another section and only allows you to turn off the daytime running lights and how long the lights stay on after shutting the doors.

Under Locks, I have Autolock, Autounlock, Mislock, Remote Unlock which then opens All Doors or Driver's Door, then Switch Inhibit.
Under Alarm, I have Settings then All Sensors Active, or Perimeter Sensing. Also Ask on Exit.

If I'm missing something and can get rid of this thing that would be truly great...

Did you ever figure this issue out?! I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! I just bought my S550 in August, so I'm new, and I can't stand the double horn honk! I haven't been able to find a 100% fix...been thinking about buying the FORscan license and trying to figure it out.

It's trivial to turn off with forscan, and you don't need to buy the license either.
