I say you should do it. I thought long and hard about the base model and it was a tough decision for me to go with the tech package.

I decided mag ride was a must have, and I am fairly certain I won't fit into the Recaros. I don't think Ford would have put mag ride on this car if it weren't spectacular and functional. Our roads are really rough here, especially in the winter, and I think the mag ride will make the car a lot more livable daily driver.

I tried to get measurements of the seats, but had no luck there. So I'd really rather know I can fit and be comfortable in the seats. I wish I could have gotten some of the pieces individually rather than in a package, but I understand it's part of keeping the cost low. I will probably enjoy the extra tech bits. I thought about the track package, but I am concerned about driving a car with all those coolers in below zero weather. I'm not sure it would have been good for the transmission or rear end to run that cold. Even commuting in 40-60 degree weather I think those coolers would keep everything too cold. I don't want a crunchy, worn out transmission in a couple years because it spent all its life at lower than a good operating temperature. I'd rather change the fluid a little more often and have a smoothly operating transmission on cold days. So for me I ended up deciding I had to go with tech.

op if I remember correctly you have a 2013 m3
mine doesn't have comp pack so no adaptive suspension.

I got my gt350 with tech pack, after testing out MR, I wouldn't go without it. it makes a lot of difference when you corner.

I wasn't trolling. So let me elaborate: I wouldn't contemplate passing on factory installed options and have them installed afterwards instead, just to save a couple grand on a $50k plus car.
I never stated anywhere that I would put on factory equipment. That goes against what i posted here.

I originally was going for a base car too. But damn I think you have to have the MR suspension that for me was worth the money. It takes away all the body roll effects braking. Hard decision but I bit the bullet.

Wise decision. The MR transforms the handling & balance... plus has the versatility for on & off track use. Since day one, I preached that MR is a must have... i.e. it's a key suspension component on how well the C7 tackles curves & bends as well road undulations therefore a no-brainer for the GT350. An absolutely zero regret decision.

I had the same idea with the regular Base GT. Perf Pack seems worth it, but base is a great base to build on.

I almost bought a base. But I decided that it's time to try out MagneRide. And in the end if I don't like it (I find this HIGHLY unlikely but I get that it's entirely possible) and when I finally need to replace them, I'll just get coilovers. But having everything from the factory just work is appealing to me right now. My car modifying interests are starting to swing more towards older cars like Fox Bodies or classic 90's Nissans.

I completely agree on how beneficial the MR is but let's face it...this car is born and meant to be driven on the track. I was considering the MR and track pack but saving $$ for me while putting on quality aftermarket components is a no brainer, again this will not be an everyday car for me. My M3 came with the competition package and technology package and I wish did didn't because I love the raw power of any well built car...but the deal was too good to let go. So now I have a full suspension setup that has th car dialed in and I gained 3.5 whole seconds on my track days plus the feel is uncanny as opposed to Oem components. I'm not a professional racer but have been at it for years and this GT350 will certainly shine even more with the right stuff added :)

This was me as well, my original order was base then I switched to Track, I do make long road trips so Magneride was a must.

Very hard for me to consider the the GT350 a "base"model. The R just seems like a variant for guys who elect to actually track these cars on a regular basis.

that's what i ordered. base with the only options being over the top stripes and car cover. buying at msrp, I'm getting a car that's hitting at 53 out the door. hell of a value in my opinion, and it will be a clean slate for mods.

I'm with you on the R but $75k + is a bit much for a mustang. I was set on getting an R but just can't see paying that amount of $$. Oh and that rear wing weighs around 30lbs. Not really effective on the track for weight reduction

It's a base for me with stripes. Is not a daily driver so can't see the need to spend thousands. My radio is the exhaust anyway. Almost $52,500 out the door is a great deal for me.

I wonder if the MR cars could be lowered without any issues? I think I'd like to reduce the wheel gap at some point but I'm not sure how the dampers with react. I think it's definitely safer to lower the base cars with their conventional shocks. With that said I believe C7 owners with MR have lowered their cars (using stock bolts) with no issues.
