Effingham ... there's a joke there somewhere. I guess if something is going to get destroyed I prefer a business vs. a house with people inside.

There were 6 or 7 confirmed tornadoes with that storm, several EF-3’s including Effingham. Lots of houses were damaged or destroyed but I haven’t heard about any fatalities. Which is good, homes and businesses can be rebuilt, people can’t

Do they break it down by category to? We have family in Norman OK., the scale of what they deal with at times is nuts.

I’ll have to see if they break it down by EF scale. We’ve had a lot of EF3’s, not many 4’s or 5’s, at least not in the Chicago area. Down state has gotten some bad ones. It’s been a crazy year. One town about a half hour from me got hit by 2 tornadoes within a couple hours of each other a few weeks ago. Pretty wild. Had a derecho come through last week, 90mph+ straight line winds. It was nuts.

We are extremely fortunate where we live as it is on the east side of a high ridge that leads down to Lake Michigan. Almost all of the severe weather comes from the west or southwest, so most major storms and tornados follow the ridge and go around us, or dump on the top of the ridge. Lake Michigan weather effects mute anything coming from the south or east.
