Anyone else feel that the backup light is practically useless in its position? I've seen the car back up in a few videos and its hard to notice the backup light where it is on the new body.

I like where they placed it. I'm sure it'll be more than bright enough.

It's an E.U. requirement to have a center low-mount backup light, and since the Mustang will be sold there it has one.

It doesnt look very bright so if I end up with a 5.0, I will probably get an aftermarket LED light. Looks better anyway.

It's three times bigger than previous lights mounted in brake lenses. Im positive its angled to have a spread spectrum to give more than enough light for reverse visibility. Ford engineers have to have tested this before allowing it to be installed.

If it doesn't come as LED that will be one of the first things for me to change. Having any incandescent lights on the exterior of a vehicle really ages it in my mind. I changed them all on my H1 - night and day difference. I only have a few map and instrument lights till I'm 100% LED and it really modernized the whole thing.

I like it; I seem to recall a video somewhere of Ford saying they didn't want to clutter the tail lights, so I'm glad it is like that.

This is from the manual. I'm not sure the difference between rear lamp and backup lamp. Is one for the camera?

Rear lamp, brake lamp and direction indicator lamp - LED
High-mount brake lamp* - LED
Backup lamp - 3156 or 3157

The Rear Lamp they are talking about are the Tail Lights, when your Headlights are On, but it appears that All of the Rear Lighting is LED.

I think the LENS look BLA. Some of the early Pics showed a few
rows of LED's in this same shape in the same location.

I would replace them and the TAILIGHTS too. I HATE THE REAR END LOOK.

It's still several inches higher than the reverse lamps in my Vette, and those work just fine. At any point where I'm reversing and someone needs to notice, I can't think of an instance where they aren't going to have a full top-to-bottom view of the car. It's not like i'm going to be backing up in traffic where the light is below someone else's LOS.

It'll be fine. :)
