So I have a 2015 mustang GT that I just brought in for inspection. The garage tells/shows me that my reverse light isn't working. Also, my backup camera isn't working but its been on the outs for a while.

They replace the bulb and that doesn't work. They send power to the bulb and it works. They ended up tracing the wires back to the transmission and the wires had rubbed through on the trans. No problem, fix the wire and the backup light works again.

I go to pickup the car and notice that the trunk open warning is on. I open the trunk from inside the car and close it but the warning is still on. I had to take the car with me but they said to bring it back for them to look at.

Later I realized that the trunk release button (under trunk) no longer works. Which is strange because the interior button still works.

Has anyone had this issue before or know what should be looked at? I figured if it was a fuse then the interior button also wouldn't work?

Check the trunk latch, it's probably dry like a desert in there and could be beginning to stick. I would give it a little grease and work it in or at least give it some WD40.

Not guaranteed that this is your issue but it should still be on your list of things to investigate. Also if you do find the latch is dry then it's probably worth checking all of the other latches too.

Thank you I will inspect the latch and throw some grease on it. But I feel like its something electrical since the outside button no longer activates the solenoid to open the trunk but the inside button does.

Is the wiring for the reverse light and the trunk pop/warning light related?

The backup camera wiring is located inside the trunk under the felt padding and the reverse light wiring is located behind the bumper shell. If I had to guess, somewhere around the back seat area of the car the two downstream wiring assemblies do connect, but I am not 100% sure where that connection is made. Hope this helps somewhat.
