if your looking at the mbrp check out the race version. I have it on mine and it sounds great. From the videos and everything i looked it showed the street is about as loud as the race just not as deep.
Does it drone and is it too loud?

Thats Loud!
I am still trying to know what do in gain with catback systemz on the ecoboost? Axleback are half the price of catbacks
Catback: replaces everything from the catalytic converter to the muffler, usually going to a larger diameter pipe for better flow.

Axleback like the name suggest, replaces the components from the rear axle to the back.. which is basically just the mufflers.

Like others have said, unless you're upgrading the downpipe there isn't much point in a full catback as the biggest restriction is the down pipe itself.

depends on what your perception of loud is. Some say its loud but i think its a medium at best. Just be sure to unplug the mic in the back of the headliner.

Highway speed there is a little drone but not really noticeable unless you have the radio off and windows up.

$850 new shipped to the door and its 304 stainless.. as far as sound this is deep with no vibrations or drone.. one thing I've come to learn is listen to it with your headphones which sounds the most realistic but at the same time it's sound quieter in person lol

The Downpipe is not the biggest restriction... it's about same as the catback many people doing 400 hp with the stock cat

Thanks guys. I am looking something refined, deeper sound and not crazy loud. Do i need a cat back or just fine with mufflers? I heard the videos but each video sound different unfortunately.

I kind of narrowed it down to MBRP street /magnaflow street or the SOlO
Our systems have been a favorite for the EB owners because most are looking for a smooth sound with more turbo noise, rather than an aggressive and outright loud system. If you were mainly looking to upgrade for sound, our Competition axleback is the perfect solution! If you have questions about any of our systems, we are always happy to help!

Only issue with the stock exhaust is the restriction and heat generated in the center muffler (suitcase). I have attached a photo for reference. Just remember turbo engines like the most free flowing exhaust possible.

I would go catback or at least put a Y pipe to eliminate that rubish stock resonator. Another reason why I don't go axleback is that I dont like cutting my stock exhaust if eventually I want to go back to stock it would be simple. As far as sound this is very subjective you have to choose what works for you.

Take a look at the Stainlessworks catback for the ecoboost. I have it on my car and love the sound! and for the price its a great value with 304 SS throughout.

I went with the MBRP Street and I really enjoy it! I can hear it yet it's Not crazy loud. Cost was a factor for me also. I am completely satisfied.

This sounds similar to what my goals were, I chose the Magnaflow Street and I wouldn't want it any louder than that. It doesn't drone and no popping. It's more of a refined sound, just lower and slightly louder.

Regarding whether to get the axleback, catback or mufflers;

Mufflers: Are you ok with the stock tips and I think you would need to pay for some welding? Personally I hated the stock tips and was a huge reason I wanted to change my exhaust, one of the reasons. So I'd at least consider moving to at least the axleback. Although the muffler option may get you the sound you are looking for for the lowest purchase price.

Axleback: Do you have room and would you want to store your stock exhaust? The axleback gets you the mufflers and tips with the hangers in the right place, makes it pretty easy, will get the sound too. The only problem is you have to cut your factory exhaust and you're leaving the resonator in there.

Catback: This is the most expensive but also the most complete. When you remove your stock exhaust, the whole catback will come out as 1 piece very easy. I just pulled mine out that way and stored it in case I ever want to put it back. There's no welding at all required to install the catback. It gets rid of the restrictive and heavy resonator and sounds good.

Having said that, there is very little performance to be gained in the catback on this car. There's a little more from the downpipe but not much and you really should get a tune for a downpipe change.
