Looking for some ideas on a axle back system that does not drone. I currently run a Steeda H-pipe with a MBRP axle back. The car has factory manifolds and cats for now. This setup is driving me nuts with the droning. Will be installing Stainless Power headers with high flow cats next week. Looking for ideas on what to change the MBRP axle back out with. I don't mind loud when I get on it, but listening to the droning at low RPM and cruising is drive me nuts.

Do you have the race or street series mbrp?
if you have the race series swap them out for the street or you can their 20inch resonantors which make a big difference.

Any absorptive perforated-packed-core muffler (e.g. magnaflow) is going to drone because it physically can’t control low frequencies. The corsa muffler is reactive and knocks out all the low frequencies and, this, has no drone. The touring version has a packed section as well, which reduces the high frequencies some.

@Gargoyle I agree about the stock tone. It’s just amazing. But corsa touring mufflers combined with a stainlessbros resonator and an H-pipe sounds pretty amazing too imo and it has the advantage of being 100% dual 3” straight-through.

I've got a Steeda H-pipe paired with a Stainless Works Legend axle back.. nothing else.
Really only a tiny drone on the highway but if someone's next to me we can have a human conversation without yelling.
I may have made the decision after watching some YouTube vids of guys with the SW, so that might be out there for you to check out.

Don't have any videos of my car per se but I might in the near future. (Camera on the way, planning to play around with making some POV driving videos)

Although I feel like adding headers is just going to make that drone worse no matter what axle backs you put on there.

Steeda axle back here, paired with LTHs and an x-pipe. No drone and quiet enough to carry on a conversation with your passenger when driving normally or cruising, but very loud at WOT.

Gonna wait for headers to get installed first and go from there. Probably end up with stock resonator back on.

Short video clip from inside the car with the windows down. Never mind the camera movement, just focus on the sound. As you may notice, it’s not too loud at all under normal driving conditions.

Corsa sport or AWE touring, not axle backs but have zero drone.

I had 3" MBRP Street on a 2015 that had a deep tone and didn't drone. Stock manifolds and cats on that car with resonator delete. My current 2018 car has Long Tubes, no cats and a resonator delete with stock axle-backs. Nice deep tone at idle, low and moderate cruising speeds with zero drone. I also have electric cutouts at the mid-pipe between the headers and resonator delete. WOT runs with the cutouts open sounds like a NASCAR racer. Best of both worlds. Good luck with your decision...

Any pics of your cutouts in the mid pipes and maybe a sound clip of them open and closed?

Steeda axle back paired with FP x-pipe. Zero drone. I love the sound of this combo.

Pics are attached as requested. Two issues with the audio request. One, my right side cutout valve has burned out. This is normal. I got over 3 years out of it and I have a replacement on the way that is easy to install. Two, even when I do get the cutout replaced, idle and low rpm are all that my phone will record, due to the microphone protection built into the phone.

The brand of cutouts that I use is Spelab. I had a shop weld flanges that allow for easy replacement of the cutouts. If I remember, I'll try to get some video with audio of idle and low rpm with the cutouts both open and closed. The replacement cutout is supposed to be here sometime this week...
