The insurance racket is a deal breaker if you're not careful. All the big names were trying to charge me like $900 for 6 months, except Geico. They offered like $450 for 6, with some real solid terms and add-ons, and just in the last couple months they've lowered my premium. If geico didn't give me that rate I couldn't wisely have this car.
And this forum has shown that rates can vary widely by state.
Geico confirmed with me that the rate for insuring my Mustang while it remains parked in the garage for the winter reverts back to not much more than my minivan alone.
+1 to Geico, and I may switch back to them (from my already insane low rate with a non-profit Indiana carrier) for this reason alone.

state farm....the difference is I'm in south carolina, 29, wife's car, and house on the policy and been with same state farm since I was 15. Never gonna switch because no one can beat it...
Until you call Allstate and find out they are no joke half the price for home owners insurance. State Farm is a hair cheaper for auto though

Its pointless to talk insurance rates in this manner because 1) it varies wildly by area 2) it varies based on the amount of coverage you get. someone may want a 500 deductible while another might have like 1000 deductible and so on with comprehensive coverage which changes monthly rates.

In the grand scheme of things id say $600-700 when most things are added up.

amica was the only good insurance I found.

I'm 24 with 1 comprehensive claim and many companies wanted 300+ a month. amica was less than 170 a month when combined with my homeowners and you only pay 10 months a year + you get paid dividends because you are essentially a shareholder of the company as a policy holder.

also i put 0 down, and my payment is 598 a month XD

I'm shooting to make 2 extra principal payments a year though
tell me you had a trade in because that is ridiculously low

I got quoted $68.50 a month for maximum coverage ($250,000/$500,000/$100,000 Liability and $50,000/$100,000 uninsured motorist coverage) on a fully loaded GT premium

that's as a second car driven under 10,000 miles a year

Its gonna be a weekend car, so I figure at maximum i would do an average of 200 miles every weekend. so figure $150- $200 a month in fuel costs. This is why I'm keeping my prius. If the mustang was my only car, my monthly fuel costs would probably exceed $400 a month :headbonk:. keeping the prius I would likely be at a total of $350 a month for fuel. Plus keeping the prius saves me from increased maintenance on the mustang.

Monthly payment I would like to keep it at or below $550, so negotiation will dictate how much I have to put down.

cuz he doesn't like having his money in other places that earns him interest, like a roth ira, savings account, mutual funds, cds, etc.
