Engine braking saves from having as much brake wear and is worth it to me, also bc I'm in gear to accelerate if I need to. Sticking it in neutral and stopping with just the brakes seems like a half baked idea to me.
Aswell as, if you're in gear and coasting, most cars are not burning any gas because the wheels are keeping the engine spinning. If you're in neutral then the engine has to use a small amount of gas to keep itself spinning.

I've done it for all 75k miles of my truck's life and everything down to my clutch have been flawless, absurdly reliable.

If Ford were using a manual adapted with an automated clutch, like say the VW GTi set up or the Ferrari gearboxes, then I can see this being useful. On a regular automatic with converter it just seems like a gimmick.

I rev match in all my cars, all are manual, but not for engine braking. I do it to reduce driveline shock when on track, and on the street just to maintain the skill.

Wouldn't rev-matching help maintain speed when downshifting instead of the usual engine brake/lurch?

You still get the engine braking effect, it simply smooths out the transition so instead of a lurch, it's a smooth slowdown.

Yeah, I poorly worded that. Obviously there will still be engine braking, but I was thinking it may actually improve times a smidgeon without the lurch.

Automatic with Paddle Shifters (Select-Shift 6-speed)
Rev Matching - Redesigned Case With Lighter Internals

I'm trying understand the difference between a regular Automatic With Paddle Shift & one with Rev-matching.

My current DD has Auto with Paddle Shift.

When I down shift, from lets say 4th to 3rd @ 4K RPM the RPMs go up and the car slows down which is why I down shift in the 1st place.
I am betting there is no difference, it is just marketing. Race cars with paddle shifters or sequential shifters use an auto-blip when down shifting and braking into turns, it helps to keep the rear wheels from breaking loose and spinning them out. On the street it doesn't have much use.
