Noticed this on mine today too. 1200 miles in. Sounds like there's a gnome underneath the car pinging an anvil with his little hammer....

Anyone got any sense out of Ford on the issue?
I've booked in to have the "Gnome Delete" option in a couple of weeks! :)

Seriously though - they are going to use some listening device to find out where it's coming from - will keep you posted.

I have something similar on an old Volvo S60 auto. For emissions auto boxes these days disengage drive when stationary with the brake applied then re engage as you lift off the brakes. Poor calibration of the brake pressure sensor or bad software can delay the re engagement process or make it too abrupt thus causing a clunk as drive is engaged and slack in the driveline is taken up. It's similar to partially dumping a manual clutch at tick over. It sounds horrible and probably does the splines no good whatsoever.

That can be disabled with a TCM update at the dealer. Its called the neutral stop delete.

I get similar ,sounds more like a "tink" sound but not too worried for now and it is not every time ,had it on other autos in the past.

I did read somewhere that the 6R80 auto transmission fitted to our cars has this capability. However, I haven't found evidence that this feature is engaged or even present on the variant in the Mustang, so I don't think this is the issue here. Also you only ever get the sound when a drive position is physically selected by the gear lever.

Can also occasionally hear it in a downshift, particularly at higher revs when a sport mode is selected. Still waiting to hear anything from my dealership!

Just got back from a 2 weeks holiday ...
Car booked in the day after my return to have the "clonk" sorted
Go for a drive as soon as I get back as suffering from mustang withdrawal symptoms! And guess what? Yep.. No clonk!
Took the car over as I was having some other work done anyway left it with them overnight and still no clonk .. Picked it up drove home still no clonk!!
So if u have the clonk go on holiday and give your muzza a rest! Lol
