Car is in "S" and I use the paddle shifters.

See mine won't give me time to use the paddles, it just shifts like if I have it in sport+ and D....

Once you use the paddles to change gear while in S it should stop shifting for you.

OK but it shifts at like 2k rpms, should I just shift earlier than that? I typically don't shift using paddles until around 3k or 3500 rpms, car won't let me do that...

You could shift earlier than that if you wanted, or you could shift back down into the previous gear then shift at a higher rpm. Use the first shift is to turn the automatic shifting off then go from there.

Ok well I guess my initial question still isn't answered, what if I am just going to let the car do it's own shifting, should I still be in sport+ and S?

That's a matter of preference. Get a feel for what each setting does to the driving style of the car and use what you like best.

ok, I wasn't sure is it was "supposed" to be in S if I was in sport+, kind of like I was thinking maybe it was sending mixed signals to the car to be in sport+ and D, if the car was expecting to be in S while in sport+....

If you want to manually shift gears put the shifter into the S position, then hit the paddle. This will put you in manual mode.

Using the 'Drive Mode' toggle switches in the center consul do not put it in manual mode.
