I'm going to the track with my base GT auto 3.55 gears. My question is what modes do I select to make the best quarter mile pass? Is it track mode in track apps and the gear selector in "S" for sport shifting?

Just put it in S and floor it, don't use the paddle shifters. I have had mixed results on launching at different RPMs myself so you just have to play around and see what works best.

Track mode (it will disable traction control), slide shifter to S and as said above let the transmission do the shifting for you. I'm still playing around with the best launch. Right now leaving off idle but I'm hoping I can find a slightly higher RPM to launch at.

I have had my best launches with TC on, when it's off it just a tire burning fest haha. With TC on its a mixed bag, sometimes I can get a good launch other times it's a 5 sec 0-60, very weird. With better tires though that would be a different story. Track also makes a difference.

I have read somewhere that 1k~ launch has worked well.

You always search that ragged edge between hooking on stock tires and breaking them loose. TC will affect your trap speed more than likely. Whether or not it affects your ET I haven't had a chance to find out yet. Good luck. :)

What wheels and tire size are you running?

I have the base 17 inch wheels, I want to get another set of rims/tires down the road when these are worn out.

I have 3.15 gears in mine but I lowered the tire pressure to 26 psi and put it in track mode with advanced traction off. Revved to about 1k-1.5k don't remember and went. Ran a 12.54 with minimal wheel hop. Let me know how you run!
