From days past. This one not mine but back in 1972 had one exactly the same

I have a relative with one from that era, don't ask me the model, but it has the 186 engine. They are in the process of restoring it, maintaining it as a 6 cylinder.

I really like the pre-facelifted V2 Monaro, before they put the stupid US spec nostril hood on them.

I think the US consumers didn't understand the Monaro when it was launched as the GTO. The whole concept of this generation Monaro was all about simple lines and perfect proportions. No styling gimmicks, just smooth, subtle lines.

US buyers found it to be bland. I suppose it would do after looking at such adventurous styling as the hideous Pontiac Aztek and Chyrsler PT Cruiser.

Back on topic, I'm on the fence about ordering a spoiler to go with my S650 -

The current S550 certainly doesn't need a spoiler to look good in my opinion. I think the spoiler adds a touch of visual bulk to the tapered S650.

I agree. My preference is for the lower profile spoilers - if anything - on the S550.

It's so hard to call the S650 until they're seen in the wild. FWIW I don't think you'd immediately regret not having one. The problem with photos like the one above is that we typically don't duck-walk towards ours cars however...if you spend more time detailing it than anything else there's merit in that angle. Like all cars if they nail the design it won't need a spoiler to look good...unless the spoiler is an integrated part of the design.

Ahem...

Just finished speaking with my salesman about Ford asking for initial requests.

When we spoke a couple of months ago, I was the first person to place a deposit on the S650. At the time I asked for a red or blue GT Fastback with the 10-speed.

I have now made request for a Race Red GT Fastback, 10-Speed, Black Package and Magneride. I know, red again, but I just could not be without a red Mustang in my life. I may also add the Recaro's later down the track depending on prices.

This is the break down for the two packages on the GT -

Black Package - black roof, black wing mirrors, black pony and 5.0 badges, black wheels.

Appearance Pack - rear spoiler, stripes. N/A with the Black Package.

I went for the Black Package to have something a little different against Race Red compared to all the chrome I have on the current car. Although a black roof might be a challenge for me. I also don't really want black wheels again, but I hate the Performance Pack wheels anyway so may end up replacing them. The appearance pack being a spoiler and stripes only rules it out as I don't really want either.

He couldn't confirm if Magneride comes with red calipers, and I really don't want blue calipers. Again, Magneride will be something new for me, having never had adjustable dampers in a car before.

I have a feeling I will miss the manual transmission, but the 10-speed will probably be more appropriate for my driving style.

Pricing is said to be announced in the first quarter of this year, allocations from the second quarter, deliveries from the third quarter.

Excited!

Had a call from my local dealership too. Dark Horse, Blue Ember, Auto.

Will be interested to see what the final pricing looks like, but excited as well.

The Dark Horse Pricing and Supply will probably be in-line with the Mach-1 ie GT auto + $16-18K

I asked my dealer if there was any S650 update.

Reply:

NO news or update by Ford AU to us as a Dealer for the MY24 Mustang we are waiting desperately for updates.

Hopefully over the next 2 weeks.

I will put your email as confirmation into our deal pack so when we can move forward I have already some request from your end.
I expect some dealers are getting just as anxious, and are reaching out to their customers to firm up their own numbers, ahead of being contacted from further up the food chain.

"2 weeks" tends to suggest there might be some truth in the rumour that order banks open on Jan 14 in North America... and then subsequently rolling out globally shortly thereafter.

I wonder what magnitude of Leakage they are having, with both expired or cancelled existing "Orders" and others (potential orders) fed-up waiting for info and buying other Competitor Brand Cars.

Looks like the US Order Book Opening date has been pushed back to 23rd Jan 23.

I wonder if they delayed the Order Bank Opening to allow release of the Dealer Order Guide - Product Info or even pricing?

US Order Banks Open: 23/01/23

Scheduling Begins: 11/03/23

US LHD Production Starts: 11/04/23 ......(Aus RHD Production usually begins 4-6 weeks later)

This is basically my spec, minus the spoiler. Meanwhile, I hate those wheels!

Hmmm actually that carry handle doesn't look bad but you can always add one later.

Hating on those wheels eh? More crocodile tears IMHO. They look diabolically hard to clean and will hence give you hours of detailing happiness. What's not to like? :inlove:

Not to mention there's even more of that delightful honeycomb
