Hope you all had a Merry Xmas!

I know some of you have used chair rubber tips (from Bunnings) for the sound tube delete but I think I prefer paying a bit more for something that was "made for the job" so that no rubber debris will go down the air intake. After a bit of research I have narrowed it down to Boomba and Blowfish:

http://www.boombaracing.com/2015-mustang-gt-sound-tube-delete/

https://www.blowfishracing.com/engine/113-2015-mustang-sound-tube-delete-kit.html

I really like the Boomba one (being made from Aluminium) and was wondering if anyone here has installed it and can provide a review?

Cheers
Don't like the Blowfish ones becasue its still rubber. I ordered the silicone end cap that is heat rated and designed fit for purpose. I can't remember who it was but one of our forum memebers found them and I searched Ebay and found this store so I bought soon after. Here is the link:

Got streetfighter cat-back done today.
Very happy with it.
Sound and look of it are spot on for me.
hi MM . i had the full system installed a month ago, along with tune and CAI. and a frpp track suspension.sound is awesome, like a V8 supercar. low rumble pitch at low rpm and race car pitch at high revs. love it. 385 Kw engine as well ,recently though there has been a clanking sound like if the pipes are vibrating against each other, BUT only in first few minuets of driving, once warmed up she's back to sounding good. installer thinks maybe " a loose cat". will look at it jan. cheers, tom

Full system (headers and cars) plus intake and tune are definitely on the early in the new year to do list.

I apologize if this has been mentioned in the previous pages, but, is there a great sounding aftermarket cat back that is legal in terms of db?

Hey Budoy I used to be concerned about that and during the time we have been waiting for our car to arrive I have heard so many exhausts that I have decided on a Mishimoto H pipe teamed up with the FRPP Sport Quad Tips AB's by Borla, (thank you to Unkle Ed for allowing me to experience before and after his X pipe install on the same system).

You see, for me I have 'NO' bias because I have simply been listening to as many as I can. Now my original selection started off as a design thing with the GT350 valance which by default comes with the FRPP AB's but I was worried about legal noise levels.

Mate, after being inside Unkle Ed car as passenger while he ran it through its paces.... I must have the H pipe! I only wanted the H pipe over the X because I just want to trim down the tinniest bit of rasp on the X pipe at high speed shifts.

These things run quite as or as noisy as based on throttle application. You do not become cop bait under normal operation yet have the burble of a great 8. Hammer it, and you attarct attention but why did you buy a Mustang? To have fun and for that big smile... I was doing lots of 'Oooooh's' 'Giggles' and 'Wows' while passenger with Unkle Ed.

So not being totally legal is no issue in my opinion.

Go with what makes you smile...!!! :headbang:

EDIT: I changed to I have 'NO' Bias.... Before I had "I have Bias"...lol

Thanks Allan. Was just disappointed when I heard the sound at the dealership. Even the wife said I should change exhausts when our Mustang arrives. Another thing I was wondering about, can the stock one be disassembled? Transporting it from where the new one will be installed and storage may become an issue.

No its all one piece. But in my case I will have the stock cut into for the Axle Backs and for the H pipe. Like Unkle Ed I chose a H pipe (X pipe in his case) that has sleeve joints. The beauty of this is that I only need to store the resinator and original mufflers. It is completely reversable with the sleeve joint system.

But Cat backs might be fractionally cheaper although you then have the big stock exhast to store. :gossip:

If staying in the "legal" db range is important to you, I think the Borla Touring EU Version is the only cat back that falls in to this category. I have the US Touring which I absolutely love and I don't find it too loud at any point in the rev range

Might just need to cut up the stock exhaust for storage :brokenheart:

How did the others here do it? Will the uncut exhust fit in a ute bed?

Noise issue

Hi Budoy

Re keeping within the Australian Noise requirements only the BORLA EU Touring version will keep you within the noise requirements for Australia. This is a similar system to that being sold as the Ford Performance EU Touring system which Borla also manufactures. This is designed as such so it does not increase beyond the 90dba limit as per the ADR test. The ADR requirement is based on the EU testing procedure.

The next system up in loudness is the BORLA Touring (note it is not the same as the EU version) it is louder but certainly not intrusive and also has the Borla resonator at the front of the system. Next is the 'S' Type unique mufflers and it is standard with the front X Pipe (no front resonator however the X pipe can be replaced with the Borla resonator should you wish to do so later) then the ATAK which is the loudest with X pipe similar to the 'S' in features but the ATAK mufflers are different to give you more volume and a different sound.

The Touring comes only in a 2.5" dia whereas the 'S' Type and ATAK systems are available in a 2.5" or 3.0" dia. All are available in a polished tip or black chrome finish.

We also carry the 'S' Type and ATAK as axle backs for those who wish to retain the standard front factory resonator as this only requires a mod to the rear section of your factory exhaust.

All BORLA systems have zero drone as can be attested by from Mustang owners within the forum who have purchased them.

All BORLA systems are made in the USA using T304 US made stainless steel.

Happy to chat with you if you need further info. Ph 03 9553 6915 Cheers Fred

As CasperGT has previously mentioned, the Borla Exhausts can be driven exceptionally quietly, they seriously only make huge noise when your absolutely into it, driving normally and even moderately spiritedly will not attract unwanted attention. It's only when your full throttle high in the rev range that they make serious noise and only then will it attract attention of the unwanted kind.

I started out with just the FRPP Sport by Borla axle backs and thought I was happy, put the X-pipe on and I won't be going back, even better sounding again and yes it can be loud but while normally driving the sound and volume is spot on.

I haven't tried it but I reckon it would come close to fitting in a Falcon tray, it's fairly easy material to cut if you need too and wouldn't cost much later on to get welded back together.

I rented a small moving van for 2 hours, cost me $50.00.

My mate put it in the back of his Ford Territory and dropped it at my place. I wrapped it all in a plastic sheet and put it behind the shed.

I think you could carry the exhaust on a set of roof racks too if you have them. That will be my plan to bring the old ones home when I get mine done.

On the noise levels of cat back systems I also seem to recall Streetfighter saying theirs are compliant also so you may find a few have compliant systems if you ask around enough. Or at least they will tell you they are compliant.
