Still can't decide on touring or S-type for when I get my stang. Will pull the trigger on one in the new year and let the piles of mods stack up in the shed haha

I ordered the Borla Atak cat back system from Fred Vogtland Mustang a few weeks ago, took delivery of my GT on Wednesday and fitted the exhaust yesterday. I absolutely love it! Cold starts are extremely loud but it does quiet down after about a minute or so and it idles quite nicely. Not sure the neighbours are going to like it quite as much as I do though, ha ha ha!!

Driving it around it is amazing! I can't get enough of the sound!! You can actually drive it around at normal speeds and it's not too loud at all but as soon as step on it and give it a bit it is extremely loud! I can see that it would be too loud for some every day but I personally love it!

Thanks again Fred. So glad I had a good chat to you before I ordered it and went this way, I couldn't be happier.

Try and listen to them in person before you decide. There is a fair difference, especially at higher revs.

Here's my latest thoughts on my setup.

Originally installed the GT350 Valance with just the Ford Racing by Borla Sport axle backs - Totally happy with the volume, note and depth of the sound. Nice deep note throughout the rev range yet it still disappears at cruise speeds around town and on the highway it's a nice volume where you don't need to raise your voice to talk.

Added the Ford Racing X-Pipe yesterday and wow :eyebulge: Cold Start volume is considerably louder, don't think the neighbours will like it but who cares. The rumble and deepness of the exhaust is deeper than before at idle and mild throttle, really sounds like a proper muscle car. When you start opening it up the note starts to change and there's still the rumble/deep note but a screaming banshee type raspy supercar sound jumps out. It's not all rasp tho, the exhaust note is still there and it sorta sounds like they go together. At first I thought this is no good and it's gotta come back off but after driving it for a few hours last night and today it's staying! You can drive it normally and all you get is the nice deep rumble and it won't attract too much attention or go all out and let the banshee loose. I've been driving around with the window atleast cracked just to properly hear the exhaust now. Also on overrun/deceleration there is no crackle/burble.

So far I'm happy with it, I may experiment with a H-pipe if one pops up at the right price to try and tame the rasp but so far so good.

Will try and get some sound clips of it over the next few days.

I installed the touring on my car today and love it. I was tossing up between the 2 as well and am glad I went with the touring. Think the s-type would be too loud for me.. or coind get annoying on long distances.

There is def a sifference to stock. Louder on startup amd whilst driving. At 100kph with rpm below 2.5k there is a light burble that can be heard with windows up. Its louder than the CJ in cabin vid. Even in 6th gear its there - only went on a 20min drive so hopefully it would still be enjoyable after say a 3-4hr drive which is what it needs to be for me. Right now it feels 'old school' not that I that old lol. Above that it starts to wakeup.

Driving around town there is a nice deapish burble and at 4k and above it comes really alive. Its definitely louder than stock and sounds like an actual v8 now.

Its perfect for me. What I describe as tasteful loudness which even non-petrolheads will not mind. I was concerned about spending the $$$$ and not hearing a diff from stock and now I can confirm the touring is worth the $ in sound... and my hearing ain't that great haha.

Thanks Fred!

Enjoy Myke, congrats
I love mine, they are a great system allround. The videos / soundclips dont do it justice.

*cough*

Embarrassingly, the box remains on my lounge room floor.

It's going on soon, though - I promise!

Took a quick video earlier today and got around to cutting it up and uploading it, quality may not be the best but you get the idea. Hot start, first rev is up to about 3500rpm and 2nd rev hit's 6k. Still working on video's while underway, CasperGT took some footage of before and after X-pipe and I've got some more video in the making as well.

Hey Ed, I will edit the footage into a before and after today. Just reviewing on my phone your exhaust is the sweet spot for that old school carborated V8 muscle car sound.

I was so impressed I pulled the trigger on a Mishimoto H pipe. I chose H pipe just to flatten out the high rev rasp a little. Theirs also comes with sleeve clamps like yours. Great for reverting back if ever necessary.

Awesome! thanks Ed. Will see how I like mine before deciding on an X/H pipe or not.

Allan, let us know how that goes please!

Hope you all had a Merry Xmas!

I know some of you have used chair rubber tips (from Bunnings) for the sound tube delete but I think I prefer paying a bit more for something that was "made for the job" so that no rubber debris will go down the air intake. After a bit of research I have narrowed it down to Boomba and Blowfish:

http://www.boombaracing.com/2015-mustang-gt-sound-tube-delete/

https://www.blowfishracing.com/engine/113-2015-mustang-sound-tube-delete-kit.html

I really like the Boomba one (being made from Aluminium) and was wondering if anyone here has installed it and can provide a review?

Cheers

Yeah will let you know. But probably won't be until mid Feb once we have the car back from East Coast Customs.

I really liked the Mishimoto because it has a spreader between at the rear end to keep everything tight and reduce any chance of vibrations (X pipe does not have this concern as the interconnect is closer to centre) and is 100% reversable without welding. Plus they make well engineered products.

Kaps found them in Country for just a bit less than I paid from the UK so they are available here quite readily.
