Have you guy's that have exhausts deleted the sound tube
I have run ours with the tube disconnected at the intake end with a blanking cap fitted to the intake. No decrease in sound volume, but the exhaust sounds much nicer inside...the booming from the sound tube is gone. The sound tube gives a nauseating tone in the cabin, after all, it is just a chintzy air powered sub woofer. I will be removing it completely in a couple of weeks time.

They have a lovely deep burble when idling, but anything after 3000rpm they become Raspy & noisy (too my ears anyway) Still Love the sound, but I would like them to be adjustable. That's why I went this way with the Roush:)
Thanks Mick, so when you put the blanking plates on does the system still give a deep burble but not as loud? How much of a difference did you find?

I'm confused, how can a V8 ever be too loud? That said, people saying cabin noise is an issue, must have the wrong system? I can't stand systems that drone incar. Having to fit blanking plates seems like a poor bandaid fix too?

I've got the Borla ATAK and yeah, its fucking loud outside with the correct amount of throttle applied. But its got a good tone at light throttle and near stock on the hwy in 6th. Maybe it shows which companies put the effort into tuning a system as opposed to just slapping some pipe and mufflers together? I'd expect the other Borla models to be just as good, only much quieter in comparison.

Given the posts about fuel economy, most would have no issues driving with the ATAK at sensible volumes, however I'm completely incapable due to a disability in my right foot.
Each to their own though, some people require a quieter exhaust for where they live.

The whole reason people refer to the blanking plates is because of the sound tube, which causes artificial sound into the cabin. Ideally blanking that out will be much more natural and not so 'fake'. I thought my stock GT that I picked up on Friday sounded atleast like a mild V8, until I realised the sound in the cabin is magnified and the outside sound is incredibly quiet.

I'm considering getting a Magnaflow competition installed this week as I'm a little worried the street will be too quiet. I keep umming and ahhing every day because I can't listen to one in the flesh :/.

I am pulling the trigger on Borla S-Type. Where should I get it from, BestExhaust or MustangMotosport? Do any of the two offer any sort of discounts?

I know it can be hard to understand and I did not believe it myself but yes a V8 can be too loud if you have to drive it every day and find yourself looking in the mirrors constantly for the men in blue. Love to here one of these ATAK systems one day and know just how they compare. And yes have to agree there is a difference between loud and annoying, if I could have the MF rumble without the cabin drone happy days......

Hi John,

Did you get it done at Sinclair Ford?

I'm still keeping my options open but would like to put on a cat-back first and then be able to put the headers on at some time in the future.
Hi Jim,

Yep Hammo organised it with the Airraid CAI, does it as a package. Big job fitting the headers and they need the car cold so dropped it off the afternoon before and picked up next evening. It had to go in for 15K service so did this at the same time.

Do they do some sort of tune on the car with the exhaust and CAI added on or is it the factory tune?

So I'm still waiting on some sort of reply from Borla. Anyone know the difference between the US and Euro touring spec? I'm assuming its quieter?

With the blanking plate in, it's no louder than standard, although it's deeper. I have sourced the Varex adjustables & now I've read that they are Fully open or Fully Shut. I was led to believe that they are adjustable. What is the "smart box?'

No tune with this package. Definitely feels more responsive though.
