No tune with this package. Definitely feels more responsive though.
I wonder how they get around the car putting itself into limp mode then. Isn't there an issue with that when you change exhaust and/or CAI?

CEL isn't limp mode. You can drive around with a CEL pretty much no issues. They just use an extended o2 sensor I believe to trick the ecu - they problem lies with moving the cats

Looking at the amount of standard exhausts that were laying out the back one day, they have done a few, so guess they know what to do to make sure the CEL doesn't come up. Maybe they pull the globe out for it

I've never seen a catback throw a CEL but I guess I have no experience with Mustangs. It's typically cat replacement that does it, usually with high flow 100 cells.

I'm confused, how can a V8 ever be too loud? That said, people saying cabin noise is an issue, must have the wrong system? I can't stand systems that drone incar. Having to fit blanking plates seems like a poor bandaid fix too?

I've got the Borla ATAK and yeah, its fucking loud outside with the correct amount of throttle applied. But its got a good tone at light throttle and near stock on the hwy in 6th. Maybe it shows which companies put the effort into tuning a system as opposed to just slapping some pipe and mufflers together? I'd expect the other Borla models to be just as good, only much quieter in comparison.

Given the posts about fuel economy, most would have no issues driving with the ATAK at sensible volumes, however I'm completely incapable due to a disability in my right foot.
Loud by no means says it sounds good.... I dont like my cars to scream "look at me giving my car heaps" for everyone to mutter "what a tosser"....I like a deep quality note rather than a screaming drainpipe sound. Each to their own though obviously.

. It is engine back, headers and new cats.

With the blanking plate in, it's no louder than standard, although it's deeper. I have sourced the Varex adjustables & now I've read that they are Fully open or Fully Shut. I was led to believe that they are adjustable. What is the "smart box?'
I've seen the smartbox in action, it is kinda cool and all controlled from an app on your phone. You can open the Varex to any %, with the slide of your finger. You can even set presets that automatically change your volume at certain revs and then maybe close futher at higher revs.

With the latest version of the Smartbox you can actually set it to function via GPS that works on a certain radius of approx 2km (whether this is adjustable I'm not sure) so you can set to automatically go quiet as you get close to home, or work, or your local cop station.

HOWEVER, there is a downside to the smartbox, it means opening up your phone whilst driving and waiting for the app to load up if you had locked your phone. So if you have a cop pull up next to you, in a panic you can't really do much without reaching for your phone. I think it's smarter to go without the smart box (:p), save the $500 and get the remote option so you can go instant close when required. I believe with the remote you can also gradually close as you press the button.

I am ready to pull the pin on the Magnaflow, possibly get it installed Friday. Is there anyone that has one that can advise whether the cabin drone is actually that intrusive? I might go the street option and hope it's not too quiet and then change to Competition rear mufflers if it is.

The reason I am second guessing the Competition is because of said drone. I've had an XR6 Turbo that droned and I was fine with it, so not sure if other people's perspective is the same as mine.

Liverpool Exhaust go into the computer and turn those points off so you don't get the engine light on. Assuming Sinclair probably do the same.

They do make a unique deep note but of what I keep reading the Comp has nasty drone and the street has bareble drone. I wonder if you could get some J pipes welded onto a comp if it was too droney?

Just to clear up the CEL questions once and for all. Yes the engine light will come on if you change headers/cats. It won't come on just for simple Catback.

The reason it comes on is because most modern cars have 2 x o2 sensors. One before the cat and one after. Obviously with a high flow cat the emissions etc are going to be outside the parameters and hence the light comes on.

Having the light on is no issue as it doesn't put the car in limp mode etc, it is annoying and I guess if you did have another issue which caused the engine light to come on you wouldn't know as it's already on.

There are a couple of ways around it, the easiest is have your exhaust shop adjust the tune and turn off the second o2 sensor. They don't change any other parameters so while they still need to actually flash the computer in theory Ford would know it's been done but it still running the stock tune. If your shop doesn't know/can't do this - I'd find another shop.

The other alternative and what Xforce do is put in an 02 extender which you then plug the o2 sensor it. It means the sensor isn't right in the flow on the exhaust gases and hopefully means it falls within normal parameters and no engine light. Speaking with Xforce it works for them but I've used this method before and it's hit and miss. It will most likely get you a few days with no light, you could get a cheap scan tool and clear the codes every few days.

Hope that helps everyone!
