I too saw the guys at willowbank, they also do cats and you can go to their workshop and hear both systems
Fair enough, I didn't get that impression that they had examples for me to hear. The guy said I could try on the street and then try on the competition to compare sounds. Seemed a bit odd. I might go see them this weekend if they are open.

I have had the magnaflow street cat back on the car now for four months and the sound has changed it has become more mellow and quietened down a bit. This is not a loud exhaust its a deep mild sounding exhaust. There is no rasp to it its like an old school HQ 308 with a 2.5 inch exhaust. I am having headers and hi flow cats fitted in the next couple of weeks so it will be interesting to here what that does to the sound.
Thanks for the info. Makes me wonder if the Competition option is the better option. Loud as hell for a short while then quieting down to a medium sound level, as opposed to a medium sound quieting down to a low sound with the street option.

I still can't decide... I really need to hear some examples I think :(.

That's what I'm thinking. As long as the Comp didn't drone like a bitch? I'd consider it if it didn't and if it mellowed a little over time id be happy with that.

Aussie rob has a Corsa Sport

MagnaFlow has the street and competition, just thought you should know so you don't chase a unicorn!

Great sounding systems though, good luck on your search

After 3 weeks with the street I am still finding it perfect for me. It doesn't drone when cruising, nice rumble at idle and especially deep from cold start, sounds great under power but not too loud. A thing louder would be annoying to me. I can finally hear I'm driving a V8 without being obnoxious. That's just my personal opinion. Anything louder would definitely annoy the neighbours, it's loud enough on a cool morning.

I would have thought that you'd have been on a first name basis with each and every one of them, Yuvi.

If you're referring to both options in terms of CATbacks, be wary of the Comp.
I have the Comp AXLEback and I'm gonna tell you, it's DEEP and it's LOUD and it borders on DRONE - with the removal of the resonator, I can almost guarantee that it's gonna drone.
Just saying.
I reckon I'd have been a little disappointed in the street in terms of volume, but it's probably a more "liveable" proposition.

Another "mild" system that the owners of them always rave about is a Borla Touring.

How long have you had yours on?
Just wondering if yours is yet to reach the 'quieten down' phase.

I do remember putting the 3.5" exhuast from turbo back on my xr6 turbo. Was incredibly loud and droney for a while and quietened down a lot over time. Still loud, but easy to live with.

Yeah I have Borla in the maybe category too. I was thinking of going the touring. This is my first V8 and I want it to sound like a V8!

Keep in mind they sound very nice stock???? Borla touring sounds very nice, a bit deeper and louder than stock and NO drone. I've bought the SLP Loudmouth 2 Axle backs for the same reason....bit deeper, bit louder than stock.

Had the comp CAT back, sounds bloody awesome, and yep it was loud and deep. But could not live with it as a daily drive, so cut and shut the original resonator back in, in place of the x pipe that comes with the cat back. Now this is essentially the axle back, but with the larger pipes all the way from the resonator back. Still deep, maybe even deeper or a more richer sound than the cat back, but putting the resonator back in dropped the volume in half. 11,000 km in and while I still love the sound, on longer drives it is starting to get to me. If it was not my daily drive it probably would not be an issue, so will probably end up trying something else more "liveable" :brokenheart:

So yes beware the comp CAT back, it is pretty aggressive, unless that is what you want of course.
