My only worry would be drone TBH.

There's plenty of catbacks you can buy that have loose definitions of 'no drone', so it just feels like you'd be the R&D department for the local shop...

My 2c
Too true and if there is a muffler that will drone like an angry wife its a Magnaflow muffler.....get something tried and proven ..

My opinion only and there may be edge cases I haven't thought of but ide never buy a custom exhaust. These big exhaust companies put a fair bit into R&D, they know what works and what doesn't. Your local shop will have very little of that information. The price you have been quoted isn't far off what a real Magnaflow will cost.

Ide be keen to hear what others think.
I could not have said it better myself.

There seems to be a few ready to jump on the Magnaflow so I thought I had better pipe up now. I still like the note and volume when I am in the car by myself driving the roads I travel daily, so it might stay. Heart says keep it how it is, but head is saying something else.
Just thought I would pipe up so to speak.I love my Magnaflow Comp Axleback.Just back from Melb, 5k on the clock. At 115/120 kph windows up it is quiet.Windows down - nice. 3500-6500rpm absolutely gorgeous.Nothing deeper in tone than Magnaflow. The secret is keep the factory suitcase for the deepest note.No Rasp.

I'm down to the following:

- Corsa Xtreme
- Ford Racing Sport by Borla
- Borla S-Type

In two minds, because I love the sound of the Xtreme but thinking it might be a bit too loud for neighbours and our friends in blue.

Corsa Xtreme:

The Borla exhausts tend to have a deeper / less exotic sound which I like as well.

S-Type and Ford Racing seem pretty similar to each other.

Being in Melbourne I guarantee with the Xtreme you won't last a month before you are pulled over, these cars get a lot of attention!

:( Sadly that is where the doubts start to come in.

Based on reading opinions and videos the Xtreme is only LOUD in two situations

1) Cold start (the neighbours will be your best friend :headbonk:)
2) Wide open throttle (will raise the dead)

It's meant to be rather quiet and unobnoxious at crusing speeds and below 3000RPM. Has been described as a "Jekyll & Hyde" sort of thing where it's one extreme () or the other.

I really like Ford Racing Sport, but can't figure out a cheap (reasonable) way of getting it... Borla S Type is my second fav, would love to hear it in person though

For anyone who is looking to purchase our products, you can contact one of Supercat Converters locations. We believe they were mentioned previously in this thread, but may have been overlooked by some. Mufflers to the Max in Brisbane is also an authorized Magnaflow dealer.

The FRPP Sport and the Borla S-Type are comparable, ... but really the Corsa extreme, is on a different level. Its much louder, and therefore less restrictive, and (to some) sounds alot 'better' for the same reason.

I too had a decision to make between the Borla S-Type and the Ford Racing - Sport. I ended up going with the Ford Racing - Sport, for a couple reasons.... I like the idle tone / depth a little more than the Borla. I also like that its a touch quieter.... even if its only by a fraction. (keeping in mind they are both reasonably loud exhausts.)

But the Corsa Extreme is not something I would expect to be able to drive on Australian streets and be left alone for very long.

A more comparable exhaust to the Ford racing and the Borla S-Type would be the Corsa - Sport.

Part of what swayed me towards the Ford Racing - Sport.

Yeah, I'm leaning more towards the Ford Racing Sport for those reasons.

Borla and Corsa based on the hours of reading I've done are the best brands for a perceived 'lack of drone' - which I am all for.

Have you ordered your Ford Racing Sport exhaust yet? I'm thinking catback with black tips but haven't worked out a supplier/site to order from.

Borla/FRPP, Corsa and Magnaflow seem to be the pick among most Aussie's :D

Watched tons more YouTube videos and now feeling the Corsa Sport.

My car doesn't arrive until end of August so will probably switch another 10 times by then... lol :(
