I'm hoping someone can help me figure some things out.

My radio was acting sketchy so when I took my car (2016 GT Premium, 401a) in for its first oil change, it was one of the things on my list for them to check out.

My issue is that the audio performance has diminished noticeably after the repair. Based on the notes added to the repair order by the technician the head unit threw some codes and ultimately they decided to replace it. One of the notes said "...Retrieve ESN/Part numbers and replace ACM, reprogram and recheck operation,...". The radio appears to be working; however, after the repair the audio performance has noticeably diminished. For example: before the repair I had to run the BASS slider at 2/3 to 3/4 and with the volume at 10 the pounding was shaking the mirrors and on the threshold of causing discomfort in my ears. Very rarely would the volume go up to 12 and that was mostly when driving with the windows down. After the repair the BASS slider needs to be at maxiumum (still not quite achieving the previous level of pounding bass) and the volume is up around 12-14 with the windows closed.

I have visibly confirmed that the sub-woofer is at least moving. I have moved the balance/fader to each corner and can hear sound. I haven't confirmed that the center dash speaker is working. (Is it correct that the balance/fader screen for a 401a only shows the 4 corner speakers?)

I know they have replaced something because I had to call Sirius to update my ESN.

Is it possible that the new head unit is defective? Is it possible that the tech overlooked something in the above mentioned "reprogram" step after installation that would have switched the new head unit into 401a 12-speaker shaker pro mode? Is it possible that they installed the wrong part number head unit? (i.e. premium radio, not 401a radio).

Are there other sub-components that I should be looking at? What do I check next?

Thanks...

OEMRadio can help you in this as I believe your ACM needs programming properly

Something obviously changed as a result of the head unit replacement. Since it's under warranty and the dealer did the work, you should take it back to them to resolve the problem.

Can you follow up to let us know what was found to be the problem? By the way, which dealer did you use?

I am currently waiting for a reply from them. I sent them an email with the details and when their local survey team called me they said they would be sure that he looks at it and gets in touch...

In the meantime I want to get as much insight / information into potential causes as possible so that when they give me the inevitable "that's normal" routine I will be able to competently respond.

Here's another question for you: I do not recall there being "NA"'s in the version numbers for Gracenote and especially in the Navigation Maps version. Can someone look at their "Settings - general - about" page and let me know? I am also afraid that they did not update the maps to current on the new ACM.

OEMradio reprogrammed my factory head unit to remove all processing and convert it to low level output...... And it sounds awesome now with aftermarket amps and speakers. Hopefully they can be as helpful to you as they were to me.

Does anyone have more information about how to configure the output levels on an ACM? I replaced mine with an HD enabled unit (on my 16 GT350) and now my audio volume is stunted like Danny Devito's height.
