So, the dealership is offering the Armour All ceramic coating and interior protection for 7 years at a cost of $500. Is this really worth it. The gt is 1.5 years old with 6000 miles. No surface prep is being done. Thanks

Big fat no without surface prep. And being they didn't say that prep is necessary for proper application
of Ceramic coating, RUN AWAY!

Thanks, I thought that too. Especially when the price started at $900. They said $500 was there cost.

Without appropriate surface prep, the product will be lucky to last 7 months, not seven years.

What they are offering is a spray on "ceramic" coating. Not a true ceramic. You can do the exact same thing for less than $20. Tell them to kick rocks. I used to detail for car dealerships back in. the day, and every single one of the products is junk. What they are really selling you is a warranty should something happen. But good luck cashing in on it.

Yeah. When I said I was not interested they dropped the price to $400 lol. The finance guy said about half the new car buyers purchase this service.

Armour all doesnt even have an actual ceramic coating. Red flag #1. They only have a spray that would last a few months tops with no prep. The spray is like $20. Huge rip off from the stealership.

If you do it yourself with out prepping iv had good luck with Griots 3 in 1 ceramic spray coating. I use it on my truck in the fall before winter and get a solid 6 months out of it. With the surface properly prepped it would last a full year. And the bottle is only 20 bucks. But yes the dealer coating is def a scam glad you said no.

Yes, griots might be one of the best spray on ceramic coatings on the market.

@tommyd The prep will mainly remove fallout and level the clear coat(remove fine scratches and swirls). I'm sure if you clayed it first, did a basic polish, and then used a real ceramacoat it would look great. It will basically fill in those voids and protect the paint system. But it won't bring out the original shine without the prep.

It's a gimmick/scam - just as is any dealer tacking on $500+ for supposed carpet/upholstery protectant.

If you can't SEE IT, they didn't do it.
