here is mine with 285 35 18s which are about 26" tall. my car is on pro kits. these wheels and tires only weigh 50lbs together(per wheel) if you like the look of 20s on these cars, your not going to like it. im a little old school...I think 20s are kinda huge for a "performance" car, but they look ok. I prefer a little less wheel myself. I love how my car looks. would probably look a little better on sportlines, but hey, its my daily and I comuute in it...I don't spend all day driving to car shows :p I wanted it to be drivable...and not have to work about scraping everywhere

I ran a 26" tire. 275/40-17 MT ET street radials.

I did a best of 1.5 60ft.

I do plan on giving it a shot with 28" slicks next spring a)because I got a set for next to nothing when I bought my race stars, b) I want to see how it works with eliminating the shift into 4th. With factory 3.15's I can run up to 118mph with a 28" in 3rd. I assume I will be looking into it again once I add some more power, but I planned on swapping gears in the future to maximize my final setup anyways.

I have the same car, gear and auto Trans too.... Did you ever switch to the 28s and compare times?

Just to let you know for reference.. some info on my runs and experience.

My GT has 3.15 gear, auto.

Mods are SW h-pipe catback, Lund Flex Tune with E85, Drag pack(bigs/littles) 17x4.5 front with 26" tall MT Sportsman SR
17.9.5 rear with MT 295/45-17 ET Street Radial IIs(27.4" tall)
Misc suspension items BMR springs, Vertical links, CB005.

My best run is 11.81, best trap 117.4. I run the car in D and let it shift.

I run through the traps in 3rd gear @ 7200rpm. According to my datalogs, the car is commanding 4th gear shift as I go through the traps. Any faster, and I would hit 4th and slow down.

So here are my options:

Run in manual S mode and hold 3rd gear past 7200 through the traps, or go with a 28" tall tire (305/45-17 ET Street Rs) I am leaning towards the 28" tall tire simply because MT supposedly does not make the 295/45-17s anymore.

Just posting my experiences with 3.15, 27.4 tall tires, and mods.

I ran a 235/45/18-26 inch drag radial last year. Best time was [email protected]. The car would shift into 4th right before the finish line on these. Upgraded to a 28 inch 305 this year. They are much more consistent due to the extra rubber on the road. And they cross in third gear. MPH seams to be the same. So I expect to see an improvement in personal best this fall. Would have liked to tried them out this spring but it's did nothing but rain.

The key here is to try and do everything possible to run it out in 3rd gear and avoid the shift into 4th gear.
