Are all of the Unleashed tunes boost target based or was that just used to better fit with your situation/objectives?
I believe they are all boost based tunes. If you exceed the target, the PCM will close the throttle to maintain the target, BTW. It will not just over-boost. Keep in mind that I don't have what the average customer has as I have been racing the car and asking for some special tweaks.

I believe we make mention to it in our OAR technical document here: https://cobb.app.box.com/ford-oar

Our Mustang OTS calibrations attempt to stay as close to possible as OEM logic and as such utilize the load and torque based targeting systems. There are several ways to approach power delivery on this platform. We have experimented with load, torque, airflow, and pressure based strategies and always come back to load/torque as the most efficient and well rounded approach.

When utilizing this method, the car will produce varying boost levels to achieve the load target or load limit under all possible ambient conditions. While the boost gauge may not read the same at all times, it will attempt to achieve the same engine load. This in effect should produce very consistent power and set the driver expectation to know how the car will feel every time they fire it up.

While this strategy is awesome for daily drivers, there are several other ways to make power. We have created a custom wastegate control solution that allows Accesstuner customers to expand the capabilities well beyond the factory controls. I've added some additional tweaks to the Mustang specifically that are not currently implemented in our Focus ST and Fiesta ST systems that are a welcome improvement for our DIY calibrators.

We'll be adding a lot more as the platform grows, and I'm excited to see how you guys use the controls to make each car unique, and to push these vehicles to the extremes!

Cheers,
-Braden @ COBB

interesting... That would explain why I only see 18 lbs of boost when I was driving in below 0*F temps.

Can you please explain this statement further? Why do you feel that way and what exactly can Cobb do that others can not for other platforms?

I'm genuinely curious, not being snarky.

I do appreciate Cobb chiming in to disucss their load based tuning vs. other tuning methods, for instance.

Cobb and ford have worked together in the past. Focus ST for instance. It is not a direct comment from Cobb, but Geoff from full race mentioned in one of his earlier post Cobb's involvment with the Sema car they where contracted to do. It was also mentioned fords involvement in the development process and aiding in road blocks. These are all small comments here and there across many different posts. So I shouldn't say contract but Cobb's direct involvement in a project along with Ford's backing with aid leaves one to postulate.

You ask what Cobb can do others can't? Cobb has a long standing history of taking over tuning market for platforms they heavily invest in. Which is a good thing. I foresee Cobb creating that same trend here. They will dominate the market because they give the end user control if they want it, Along with the means they include eduction and support. These are things other companies aren't offering. They also have some of the most user friendly software i've seen to date, It rivals AEM's simplicity for tuning if you ask me.

I don't think anyone will dominate the market. There are plenty of people tuning these cars with good results. There are also plenty of people who own these cars that come from the V-8 Mustang world where the SCT platform is prevalent. I don't see a mass exodus of those folks to a traditional import tuner. I guess time will tell.
