Ford should just tweet "Hey guys, our bad but there is another delay... we have pushed back your mustang again until #SAIDDATE"
But then they couldn't string you along and keep you on the hook. If they began being transparent, people would more easily start looking at other vehicles.

OK I got by the Dealer today and it "appears" they changed mine from Retail to Stock. Initially it was coded 10 now it shows 20 and I spoke with the General Manager who stated that it was changed to get it here faster. Big surprise, since I never asked them to do that! I also received a PM from Rachel, who is training with Tricia, who said a "possible" build week of late October.... DORA Attached, shows Job 2 now. So it appears Job 2 Dealer Stock is being filled...
How does one get a DORA? From the dealer or Fordservice (Tricia)?

I'm already thinking of Plan B if this process takes much longer for me to get a VIN. If I don't have a VIN by the end of the week I'm going to start to make some calls and possibly look into something else. I hate to say it but getting strung along is really turning me off. I will try to be patient but I don't want to wait until January at the rate this is taking. :(

Give me some hope guys.

Ask your dealer. A VOC (Vehicle Order Confirmation) will have the info on it, too.
Thanks. I have the VOC from my dealer but it doesn't have a job order number on it. I'm guessing it's Job 2 as I placed the order last week, and it was placed as a stock order.

But you are Retail, right? Until they give the OKTB, there is no chance of us getting a VIN. I'm in the same boat as you...

Strange... it doesn't say Job #2 in the left-hand column of your VOC like this? Ordering last week, you would definitely be in Job #2.

You have been a Stock order for ...

...No Retail orders have VINs yet... unless they started giving them out today, and I haven't noticed yet.
you are mr. Vigilante with info haha good to know because i keep wondering this for retail orders.

My dealer told me they got me bumped from priority 10 to priority 1, and they will check in with me wednesday (hopefully to check if I will be scheduled this round or not). Lets go with OKTB already!

You're right...it does....Job #2. Was not expecting to see it buried between the options.

Correct, unless the OKTB is given between now and the end of the week I don't foresee a VIN assigned. I'm pondering contacting my dealer to get my order switched to a dealer stock if possible. Only problem there is if the OKTB is given an updated dealer stock order could get bumped by a retail order and I'd be waiting even longer.

I really don't want to take delivery in January and its looking more and more like that at this rate. If I could find a "Plan B" vehicle on a lot somewhere in October or November I may go for it. I don't want to. I know it sounds impatient on my part but my patience is almost at its end. I don't like being strung along, especially when I've gone and put a small deposit on a vehicle and then watch others that have ordered FAR after me get assigned VIN's and build dates. I'm getting perturbed just typing this so I better chill out. What I need is something more concrete from Ford and I just don't think they can give it. I am trying though, I really want this car. I doubt I can find one optioned the same either.

Time for a stiff drink, again. :(

I've been spending about an hour a day looking at a "just in case my patience runs thin" vehicle.

Im in the same boat. I started checking dealer inventory on the Ford website, then cross-referencing the VINs on COTUS and there are a few that have already been built and are awaiting shipment. If I dont get a build date soon or get one in the year 2525, I may consider jumping ship too. You should check inventory in your region.

Like you said though, nothing is optioned like the one I ordered...some come close but its not the same :(

Yep, I've got to get off the site right now and do something else. Tired of dwelling on it right now.

I went through this back in 2006... I ordered along with a bunch of other people on the forum. Some got their info, some didn't (we didn't have COTUS and had to rely on one person to update us that did it secretly because he was forbidden to do so). There was no rhyme or reason (at least to us) on how our cars were built, shipped, and delivered. My car "disappeared" for a month AFTER it was built, so I had to wait through that, too.

I made some great friends along the wait and some of us even got together after we all received the cars. I hope to do the same this time.

Unless their is a financial issue, or a weather issue, I would hang in there. If the 2006 was worth the wait (and it was)... just imagine this car!

Maybe a C7 will drop to 45k in my area and I'll get one of them, but unless that happens, I doubt I will drop out.
