As for washing the car, I never take it through automated car washes but do hit it with water from a hose when washing it. I just assumed that they should be/would be water tight and good to go for many years. Hope they get it straightened out!
I do not think it comes from washing the car, I go through automated car washes and the passenger side is top notch.

Mine was a clear one by the way, it just seems that some of them burn down for whatever reason. Bad batch maybe, we will see how the replacements do.

I guess it has something to do with design fault or quality control. Any color can fail and they failing irrespective of color and wash.
Someone has water in it should check the harness connection rubber which are pointing backward and so water should not get there unless you are driving through high water or washing the car from back and using pressure washer to wash the bottom of the car.
I washed my car yesterday, so far it is ok. We will see how it works. I have also ordered a pair of smoked one :headbonk:

Well, sure enough thanks to this thread, I went out to check mine on Friday afternoon. The driver side one appears to be ok. However, the passenger side has 2 or 3 burnt out LEDs! God knows when I would've noticed that otherwise so thanks for the heads up!

I sent an email to DD Friday early evening but haven't heard back. Hoping to hear back from them today on how to resolve this. Considering this appears to be a somewhat wide spread issue, I would be hesitant just getting the one replaced since I'm guessing the other one may have the same problem at some point in the near future. However, I'll leave it up to them to decide how they want to handle it.

I'm hoping this issue has actually been fixed and I won't just be getting a new one that has the potential to burn out again soon. For the price of these, if they won't last for years (as LED's should), I'd be ok with just getting a refund and putting the stock ones back in. It sucks since these look so good but it is what it is.

I know how you feel about these lights. They are not cheap and being faulty after only a short time sucks. My passenger side started with a few LEDs out and now it has stopped lighting up any of the LEDs. I am going to have to put my stock ones back in until the replacements come. Becca at DD said it would be 2-3 weeks.

Are the failures really a "burned out" LED (or multiple)? I thought LEDs don't burn out like a normal bulb.

However, I have heard of LEDs not illuminating due to bad solder joints on the boards where they are attached. This is a common occurrence on LED strips or boards where the LED is subject to vibration, rattle, opening/closing of a panel (or being very close to one that is in daily use).

Has anyone inspected the boards for broken solder joints via continuity testing? That may help the vendor go back to the manufacturer for better quality control on the build line.

As far as water or condensation penetration, why not seal the outer edges with silicone as well as any minor openings in or around the connector plug? That alone would prevent any water contamination of the board (short circuiting).

Sounds like bad luck, I've had mine since April, washed car with pressure washer a few times, been driving in the heavy Houston rain and all has been well. (knock on wood) My guess would be the bulb holder was not seated fully or properly.

Yes, experiencing. Just a few hours run time on them. Hand washed car once or twice. One brighter than the other, one looks exact as pictured. Looking for time to deal with.

Well, just got done installing the replacements. I really hope this is the last time I have to do this as getting behind the bumper really sucks with the roush axlebacks. I noticed two things. First, the connector bit has a different transistor (or resistor? don't know). New one reads "151". The other thing is that one of my connectors had a bit of moisture when I removed it. Although the other one was dry and had the same issue. Link to pics: http://imgur.com/a/o5beC

My driver side has several LED's going out starting at the front and working it's way toward the rear. This sucks. I have also been quoted 2-3 weeks for replacement. My passenger side light seems to be holding up fine.

I had a few LEDs on the passenger side go out. I have the smoked version. Contacted DD and they sent out a replacement. I daily the car, so it does see a fair amount of rain. Maybe that was the cause? Right now both sides work, but I am afraid that one may go out eventually.

1. As someone stated before, use silicone to seal the opening on the back of the housing. As an added step, heat shrink your connector connection. This should go for all LED products that are exposed to the outside elements and wiring as well. Trust me, this will prevent any future failures. Not sure why Diode Dynamics hasn't suggested this yet?

2. I've been modding cars for a long time and dealt with lighting and LED's for quite awhile now. I think I have a good perception on when a company is trying to screw you and I'm pretty sure Diode Dynamic does not have that intention. My other car has similar LED vents and I wired them to turn on/off with the running lights as well as fade in/out with the proximity sensor and interior lights. People had the exact same issue with those from EXLED USA until they sealed them up and properly secured the wiring. Here is a link to that..

To what end? If you actually watched the second video he plainly showed his control panel showing he does not monitize his channel. So what would drive your guarantee?
