Anybody know what this plug/port is for?

Found this dangling down into the driver side footwell today. Not the OBDII port, as that’s over to the left side and everything seems to be connected. This is more in the middle. I just pinned it back using the clip on the back, but should this be connected to anything?

Car seems to be functioning and running completely normal as far as I can tell.

I didn't notice anything really refering to it on a 2016 model's shop manual. Chances are, it's a redundant connector, or meant for Euro-spec Mustangs.

Sorry I can't identify it but my stripped Mach 1 has a few inactive multi-pinned plugs. As an example, there are two harness plugs for the seats but only one is active, for the basic functions, and the other is not plugged into anything. (Likely for the memory module, heated seat option?) It looks like I have the same uncapped connector so who knows what option package it's part of? There's also a blatantly obvious unused plug by the fuse block.

It's an unused connector on Ford's "one-size-fits-all" wire harness. Having their suppliers make just one harness with all of the connectors for all of the options on it reduces cost and simplifies their bill of materials.

Whatever electric-based options your car does not have, it's one of those. Could be for a preamp to the stereo or something like that.
