If I read right the F-Series is getting Sync 4 now. Has anyone heard about it or an updated 3 coming to the Mustang?

There are updates outy there that will take you from 3 to 3.4. I just did one yesterday in my 16 GT Sync 3.

Thanks, that doesn't address my question though.

I am pretty sure we won't be able to upgrade to Sync 4. I don't know if there will be more updates past Sync 3.4.

I think the S550 is done with 3.4. Maybe some new build #'s like 3.0 got but that's it. Based on what I've read there will not be an upgrade available from 3.4 to 4 due to the differences in the systems.

1980-1982, then moved to 8ID (Crazy 8). I spent over 20 years in Germany.

I wonder if it will be same shape/size as the current acm or apm or whatever it is that handles the sync 3.0 or 3.4 if its same size/ports. id love to try and swap it into my car.

We were asking the same thing back in 2016 when Sync 3 came out. The answer then was no, and based on everything that’s been said about Sync 4 the answer will not change. Other than the Sync name they are different systems.

I read that you could put 3.4 apim's into 15-17 cars. I could be wrong, but you are probably right. they most likely won't allow backwards compatibility to encourage people to upgrade cars, not systems.

What I was referring to was the upgrade from Sync 2 to Sync 3.
