Let me give a broad spectrum. These are the comments I've observed across my ownership. Sorry for any foul language ahead but it's what was said to me.

2007 Mustang V6 Auto (in Army)
-nice girl car
-not man enough to shift?
-couldn't afford a V8?
-V8 too much for you?
-oh you bought the bitch car
-is that the weak 4.0?
-did that come with tampons?

2008 GT manual (in Army)
-oh it only has 300hp?
-V8...are you trying to compensate for something?
-must need that big engine to make up for a little dick
-I guess it's a good car in a straight line

2010 Challenger R/T Classic M6
-my ram has that same engine and I'm faster
-why by the manual when an auto is faster
-oh its not an SRT
-why not just get a Camaro
-those only have 375HP
-why didn't you buy the SRT8
-looks like an old man's car

2015 Corvette C7 2LT M7
-that only has 460hp...hmm kinda weak.
-Oh its a base model
-the Auto is faster
-it's not a Z51? Why?
-it's not a Z06? That's disappointing
-why not just buy a Z06?
-A Hellcat is faster
-A Hellcat has way more horsepower
-that blue is a bitch blue
-A GTR would smoke you
-wasting your money on a toy
-6.2? Kind of small
-my 2010 SS camaro has 442 HP you only have 460 haha what a lame car and you only bought a 2LT? What's wrong couldn't afford a 2SS?

Yes this was an actual exchange at my work with someone who owns a 10 SS and he thought that corvettes identified with the SS badges.....

2015 Mustang GT M6
-only 435 HP?

There is probably many more and surprisingly only one comment about the S550. I learned after the 07 V6 to never let people get to me about my choice in car. I was new in the Army and still in my teens and got bullied into thinking my car was crap. I broke under the pressure and bought the GT and discovered no matter what you have its never good enough to others. All I have to do is make sure I'm happy and not let people's opinions get to me.

Sounds like everyone thinks you have a small wang.

The closest I've gotten to negative comments from outside this forum are concerns about fitting child seats in.

That's the only dis I've gotten with the S197 and the S550. Some people just can't handle not having four doors .... the same kind of people who argue over which "colour" of white they are going to paint their walls.

I love to tell them that good baby seat restraints were my #1 reason for buying a Mustang. ;)

If that doesn't shut them up, the 5 star crash rating and the great gas mileage (if I keep my foot off the pedal :lol usually do.

I get the usual "it's not a real Mustang because it's not a V8" comments, from time-to-time.

The best one, so far, was a guy who said the only Mustangs that are 'real' are V8s with superchargers and/or turbos, 500+hp, solid rear axles (no IRS), and setup for drag racing. I'm like "dude, you realize that you just ruled out about 99% of Mustangs ever built, right?"

I show people like that the original launch video from 1964. The Mustang was made to be whatever you wanted it to be. An economical car with European styling for getting groceries, a canyon carver, or a luxury GT.

I really do wonder where the "only the V8 matters" attitude came from. It baffles me.

I know for a fact that guy's best friend's cousin had a 9 liter twin turbo GT-SS that rolled off the line with the factory nitrous option in 1976 and it made 1300 hp and pulled a 7 second quarter mile, once. They only let him run it once because the factory slicks were peeling up the drag strip on launch.

So far, my friend just makes fun of the fact I got an automatic Ecostang, tells me I should of got a manual GT

I use to reply NYC traffic, now I just answer, "Much easier to get Road head in an auto"

I *finally* reached the point where I can defeat an SS Camaro with this car (thank Torrie at Unleashed tuning for that). Which is a lot of fun in this little 4-banger. I'm pretty sure the last guy I caught at the light was pissed.
