Yes and if you cannot do the mods yourself it may even be cheaper to get the car set up your way from the factory. In my case I do my own work, mods, etc. and shop around heavily for the parts, apply discounts, free shipping, etc. That's part of the fun- getting parts for the cheap- then installing them too.

I’m replacing the base wheels/tires with lighter wheels and 255/40/19 rubber and sell the stockers. I’ll tint the windows eventually too. That’ll be the end of my mod journey. So about $2k or so.

Nice! Please post a picture of the car with the new wheels and tires. Curious as to the offset your choose to get a good stance- will the wheels be flush with the fenders versus being inset?.
Got them on. They're not magnificent looking or anything but 20.75lbs per wheel (18s were 24.5). 19X8.5 ENKEI TUNING TFR STORM GREY on 255/40ZR-19 SUMITOMO HTR Z III XL. Since tires have less sidewall, they're about 5lbs lighter than the 235/50/18. So about a 30lb weight savings and they at least look considerably better than the stock 18s. Plus 0-60 time has been cut down by at LEAST 2.5 secs!! :giggle::crazy:

All feels pretty good so far. Ride is slightly firmer due to lower profile tires but hardly noticeable.

Wow, nice, nice, nice! The improvement over the stock wheels is so noticeable. I really like your choice. And with the lighter weight at each corner you must really feel.the performance difference.
Very nice car and color combo with the new wheels!

Thanks, Bronc. I actually wanted black wheels but nothing was in stock that was lightweight and in my desired budget at Tirerack and I like using T-rack, so this was pretty much it, lol.

Welcome to the refresh club! You are a 2015 convert right? Ruby Red holds a special place in my heart, if Kona wasn't an option in 2018 I would have certainly ordered Ruby. It looks pretty amazing in the sun.

Yes, I had a ‘15. I like Kona the best but this was only color for deal I got (VIN specific discount). I’m not picky on colors though. I’ll pretty much take anything if it’s heavily discounted except black (too hard to keep clean looking).

They look good. Plastidip is cheap if you want to go darker.

Best 28k you could have spent on a new car!

I was curious so I worked out the actual cost of my car (V6) from Fleet Sales and it worked out to 18,500 USD with all incentives. No mods except the jacking rails, an SCT scanner and a few tunes but really just to get the 157mph top speed and that is it.

Unlike the GTs when you go this route it’s all about cheap. 50k for a Mustang is getting insane in my book - but that’s just me! I wouldn’t mind better wheels but would pick them up cheap from someone getting rid of his like the op. For that cash I have a car that has never gone to the dealer or failed in anyway. And they say I’m lucky because all the panels fit too...

I just mention this because this car is probably the chaeapest and most reliable Mustang around. So why would I sell that and pay a crap load more for two extra cylinders? Also my previous 5.0 was a steal. If the salesman, the finance guy and the sales manager are not shouting the F word, the S word and so on at you - You haven’t got the best deal. Hint: they wanted me to walk out on the deal - but it didn’t work. I had them agree to conditions written in the back and then used those on the finance guy later on to get the deal - if you were interested (and get them to initial the statements).

Hey Nomad, have you noticed any perceivable differences from the lighter wheels? (not including ride quality from lower profile tires)

It’s really hard to say regarding a “difference” because I drove on the stock wheels/tires exactly once. It was a 78 mi, nearly all freeway ride in the rain. Then I replaced them. The new set up I “perceive” to look much better. :)

Bad, very bad...

Also since I pulled a fast one on the finance guy, they tried to knobble the car at delivery. Gave me a leaky sun roof which I caught (it was raining) and was miraculously replaced with another - what luck! :curse:

Later I found they didn’t include a tire iron and wheel lock. I quietly went back there and a mechanic found it behind the service department door. But it wasn’t until much later that I found out they had drained all the R12 from the AC! Now I admit I did drag my heals replacing it so when I did get around to it R12 was being outlawed and I couldn’t get any. So I went 18 years without any AC (even though I paid for it). That was all on me, that was all on me... So I got a deal but it almost was not worth the hassle.

And while we are at it I also like the wheels. You also get on my good side by taking weight into consideration as most only care about looks.
