It is very close to the day that I will be going to the dealership and putting my deposit down for my 2015 Mustang GT! I have everything figured out other than the exterior color. My personal choices are the deep-impact blue, black, magnetic metallic or guard metallic.

My dad has a cyber-gray c6 z06 corvette, and I truly love the color. Which of the two grays is closest to the cyber-gray? If there are distinct differences, can you the forumers try to describe what you personally see as distinct color differences?

pictures of the cybergray color:

the things that I can see is that the corvette's gray has a blueish tint to it, on the ford website, the magnetic selector square has a brownish/tan tint while the guard has a desaturated-olive/green tint to it. Has anyone seen the colors in person by any chance? I would personally get away from the guard if in sunlight the green really popped.

Magnetic will be the closest match to Cyber gray. Guard has a lighter value with hints of green. From the photos we've seen, it alternates between warm and cold hues.

My problem with Magnetic is that it's just so dull and boring, and I've driven a dark grey car for the last six years. I don't think I'll ever get another one. If Magnetic had a cooler temperature - maybe some blue to it or something - then I'd be more interested. Unfortunately, it's that shade of gray that hides all of the detailing but isn't dark enough to look sleek; it's too conservative to me.

Then again, I'm biased, as Guard will be my color of choice, and everyone's preferences are different.

Guard looks okay in some photos, but I really wish that this car was coming in a true green, something like Forest Green Metallic that was (is?) available on Ford pickups.

Hopefully they will add some new colors mid-year or for 2016.

Guard: Take a look at the pictures here. They are the closest I could get to the actual color in real life. It is definitely a hard color to photograph. There is no visible blue in the color. It is either a darker shade of gray or a deep green/gray.

so the guard color shows a lot of green correct? If i am the type of person who generally stays away from green (this could be different but i was unable to see a guard colored mustang at any autoshow), would it be a safer route to go with magnetic as far as my "gray" color option out of my choices? Will dealerships get the test samples for the paint colors soon so i can compare the two in real life?

My salesperson showed me the 2015 color samples back on May 20. One of our dealer forum members posted his dealership already had them too.

Guard DEFINITELY has green tints to it. It's more green then blue.

If you don't want any green, like I don't, then go with Magnetic.

And to the person that said Magnetic is boring...yah right. Ignot Silver is boring. White is boring.

Yes. Stay away from Guard if you want a true gray color. Magnetic looks to be the replacement for Sterling Gray Metallic.
