Greetings,

I have a 2022 Mustang GT Premium. I removed the carbon trap filter today. Really pretty easy to do. For those of you that have already done this, have you had any error codes? Have you noticed any difference in the performance of your Mustang? I am not expecting much in the performance area, I just do not want error codes. It is the whole principal of adding more EPA chocking crap to cool cars. I lived through this once before in the early seventies. Next thing they will all want us to by cars with batteries.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I've never heard of anyone with a 22 or 23 getting any codes after removing the carbon trap. You're not changing the parameters that the MAF sees, you're just removing the obstruction in the CAI

No error codes, and i didn't notice any performance increase or decrease.

I have removed mine from day 1. No issues and I have almost 15K miles now. You just have to make sure the diameter of the pipe is the same after removal of the trap. That way your fuel trims are not effected by a larger diameter pipe.

Removed mine in the first few days and saw ZERO changes in performance and no codes!!😉

It really does nothing for or against performance and I guess it traps hot fuel vapors...seems like a waste to me!!😕

If owners are not seeing any performance gains, why remove it?

These cars are north of 400 hp stock, the trap only gets you back the 10 hp you lost from the 18-21's. You won't feel that, but if you do a before and after on the dyno, you'll see the gain there.

10 HP is 10 HP, but you certainly won't feel the change on a 4000lb car. I would imagine however, once that carbon trap gets contaminated and more restrictive, you may notice the performance degridation

Right! I agree it just feels wrong and removing it was easy. All of this CARB shit starts in California, and the rest of us have to put up with the nonsense.

I wondered why Ford installs a carbon trap and I realize it is EPA driven. It may be CARB driven, and the EPA adopted it. Regardless, I found this video answered my questions about the [hydro]carbon trap's purpose and placement.

Maybe the EPA should look more into how to extinguish an EV fire. Once they go on fire they cant be stopped, they generate huge pollution. lol

Thanks, I gotta say this youtuber thumbnails make me want to NOT watch it. They ramble for 20 mins and at the end give a half ass answer.
